Nighttime or rain can make it even more difficult. Fortunately, Hillsound has come up with a solution that anyone who wears […]
Personal defense as simple as it sounds easily slips most people’s minds. It’s easy to become complacent when nothing ever happens to you or you live in a safe area. Typically people get concerned with personal defense as a knee-jerk reaction to seeing something on the evening news. Also, not everyone is comfortable carrying a […]

As I write this article, it really hits home for me. I have a vested interest in protecting our kids, as I have two in local schools. With all the active shooter incidents we have witnessed on the evening news, it’s scary as hell to keep sending them off to school hoping that nothing happens. […]
Being a contractor requires constant travel outside the U.S. but luckily for me, I rarely have to maintain a low visibility look, so I can have Multicam bags for my gear. If I’m going for a week-long trip I really only need to take this Kit bag by T3. I can fit my helmet, plate […]
Helix Backcountry is a compact, lightweight lantern which puts out a bright beam that’s easy on the eyes I recently received the Princeton Tec Helix Backcountry lantern to review. This is my first experience with a rechargeable lantern and I’m impressed with the design and function of this lamp. The lamps folding legs and compressable […]
I’ve been through several different types of water bottles and water filter systems over the years. The water bottle can be somewhat of a debate to those in the survival community. Some prefer stainless steel over plastic for the sole purpose of being able to boil your water. For a while, I carried an old […]
I have recently been evaluating the ParaShears from Studies and Observations Group, commonly known as SOG. Having been an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for twenty two years plus a Red Cross Instructor for almost twenty years, I’ve had the opportunity see many improvements in both skills, knowledge, and gear related to providing emergency medical treatment. Throughout our lives, we give and receive probably hundreds or maybe even thousands of gifts from many people in our lives. I’ve got a handful that I’ve been given by people in my life that hold a special place in my heart. Many are not expensive or have any real value other than what they […]

Dealing with the Vile Mosquito There are three components to my camping nirvana. Great views, excellent food and comfortable sleeping. There is also one of God creations that can easily ruin all three components. The vile mosquito. They swarm around in your face while cooking. Sting you as you enjoy the scenery. And keep you […]

I’ve gone through my fair share of goggles in the last 40+ years of snow skiing. I’ve been actively skiing since the mid 70’s, so you can imagine the wide scope of goggle technology that’s been pressed upon my face. As you may have assumed, technology has not skipped over the snow goggle. Advancements in […]
I just got home from a week in Utah skiing with the fam and I thought I’d pass along some info on a new jacket I’ve been wearing from Cotopaxi. It isn’t a company I’d been real familiar with up until Outdoor Retailer this winter. At first glance, I was really digging those retro stripes […]
