Looking to step up your personal flashlight game? The new high performance Seeker 3 PRO from Olight might be a good candidate for your consideration. Producing a whopping 4200 lumens, this compact light packs 31% more light than the previous Seeker 2 model. But that’s not all that the engineers at Olight improved. Visit our […]
Awhile back a friend of mine Jay Brown reached out letting me know that he had started making knives and that he wanted to make one for me. How could I refuse an offer like that? He asked for some basic specifications for the blade. And I told him I wanted. Something small and light, […]
I picked up the AeroPress coffee maker with the intention of having a packable, go-anywhere alternative to make a quick cup of coffee in the office, on the road, or out hiking or camping in the great Alaskan outdoors. I didn’t expect that it would quickly become my primary method of getting my morning fix. […]
When I’m packing my go-bag, there are two items I always have in the admin pocket. A good pen and a small light. In some of my travel backpacks, the Streamlight that I typically pack is a bit too thick to slide into a pen pocket. Fortunately, I recently discovered the OPen 2 from Olight. […]
When I was serving in the 2nd Ranger Battalion in the 90’s, we were issued a particularly unstylish but effective pair of ballistic sunglasses (pictured below). Not the “cool guy” Oakleys that have been in use by our soldiers for some time now. Oakley has really stepped up and poured tons of development money into […]
‘Tis the ski season and time to negotiate the busy airports as we travel to hit the slopes. One major question we discuss prior to travel is, do we bring or rent ski equipment. Since the airlines still don’t give a shit about how they handle your skis or golf clubs, we often struggle with […]
Preparing your home is just as important as preparing yourself for a disaster. And when it comes to disaster preparedness, one of the most important things to plan for is a loss of electricity. Enter the Streamlight Survivor light. This isn’t a flashlight I’d include as part of my everyday carry given its size and […]
Nitecore’s new P20i is a heavy hitting 1800 lumen LED for only $89.99 Nitecore just introduced a competitively priced, feature packed Tactical LED Flashlight. At only $89.95, the P20i scorches the competition with a brightness of 1800 lumen that’s thrown 343 meters down range. Well suited for both law enforcement or military, the P20i has […]
In an earlier article, I discussed several methods for collecting and storing water during natural disasters and other emergencies. Those are all great but I still wanted to bolster my preparedness when it comes to the city water that flows through my kitchen sink. My city’s water has always been reliable and clean, but you […]
Located at the southeast end of Lake Charlevoix is Boyne City Michigan. A city that comes to life in the summer with several small boutique shops, friendly people, and great restaurants that offer a killer sunset over the lake. With a population of less than 4000 people, Boyne City is the epitome of a quaint […]
I live in Northeastern Ohio and in the fall the weather starts to become very unpredictable. Being able to have a low-profile boot that can handle our variations in weather as well as blend into an urban environment is important to me. I’m not one of those guys that wear boots to work and then […]
Living in Northern Michigan, it’s hard to test out a Sand-Free Beach Towel from CGEAR this time of year. 120″+ of snow and frozen lakes kind of shut down the beaches here. Fortunately, we escape this mess each winter by traveling. Sometimes to go skiing, other times to recharge our depleted vitamin D levels. This […]
I’ve been a long-time fan of YETI products. Everything from their coolers to water bottles and coffee cups. One of the pieces of kit that goes out the door with me every day is my YETI Rambler 18 ounce water bottle. It’s always had the traditional screw-top cap that needs to comes off and set […]
The OLIGHT Nightour LED Table Lamp is something a little different from the typical outdoors or tactical type gear that I usually review. The Nightour is constructed from a lightweight aluminum alloy weighting only 14.82 oz. At a height of 15.61in, the Nightour is at home on a desk or night table. Powered by a […]
