Be Seen with the Meridian Strobe / Beacon from Princeton Tec

When things don’t go as planned on an adventure, increasing your chances for rescue is critical. Princeton Tec has been at the forefront of lighting technology for over 40 years. And the new Meridian Strobe/Beacon is a durable, waterproof, reasonably priced light that could save your life. This compact IPX8 rated LED Strobe offers two modes. A white emergency strobe and a red locator beacon. Switching between modes via a simple rocker switch. The 3 AAA batteries enclosed in a sealed compartment offer a 90 hour burn time for red and 60 hours while using the white strobe.

With an IPX8 rating, the Meridian Strobe is waterproof to 100 meters. Safe for use in any recreational dive profile. I used the included 1″ velcro strap to attach the beacon to my dive BCD. Locating it on my shoulder strap so I can easily toggle the Meridian if I ever find myself separated from my dive parter or boat. Princeton Tec claims visibility up to 1 mile. A range that will greatly increase a stranded divers chances of being located by a passing vessel or aircraft.

Final thoughts:

With a low price point, especially if you use the ($23.99) Amazon link, it’s hard to find a reason not to have one or more. In fact, I just ordered 2 more. One for my wife who is my dive and kayak partner. And another to leave on the Uncharted Supply Seventy2 Survival Pack. Simple to use, long burn-time and waterproof to 100 meters make this a must have item in my opinion.
