Installing the MagGuts +2 Conversion for Sig P365XL Sub Compact

Since the introduction of the Sig P365, it quickly found its way into my inventory. Swooning me with a low-profile yet capacity dense 10+1 round sub-compact. This long time “Glock Guy” was starting to deviate a bit as I explored the capabilities of this newer pistol. Originally, I carried the Glock 43 as my deep carry. But the added 10 round capacity of the Sig P365 eventually won me over. As seen in this Size Matters article. Then Sig won me over again with the 12 round capacity of the P365XL. In addition to a more comfortable grip and flat trigger, this replaced my P365. Then I came across MagGuts and their +2 conversion for the Sig P365XL’s 12 round magazine.

“We pushed innovation through our “out of the box” approach to R&D and came up with a novel system that turns an already impressive capacity dense firearm into a weapon with a density of firepower that almost seems impossible.” ~magguts.com

14 rounds plus a 15th in the pipe? In a slender sub-compact pistol? These are great times for those who prefer to carry inside the waistband. In the video below, you’ll see just how easy it is to install the MagGuts +2 kit. The kit includes a clever steel accordion style magazine spring, a new follower and a base plate. Allowing 2 additional rounds to fit into the OEM magazine body with a mere 1/8″ added in length. A compromise most conceal carry people will feel worthwhile.

Final Thoughts:

The last couple of years with the Sig P365 family of firearms have left me very impressed. The trigger, sights, feel and capacity are the reasons it’s my current EDC pistol. Although I still love the feel and durability of the Glock 19, I hardly feel the need to carry it. With 15 rounds in the Sig P365XL and another 14 rounds clipped to the NeoMag, my capacity anxiety is fully cured. Now if I could only get my hands on some reasonably priced target ammo, I’d get back to normal range training intervals.
