The Gear Bunker
The GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Camper cookware set is well suited for larger group camping. With what’s provided you could easily cook up some fresh spaghetti with meat sauce and Italian sausage or chicken with rice and beans. The set comes with 4 plates, 4 insulated cups with lids, a frying pan, 2 cooking pots […]
Benchmade recently set out to design a full frame, full size automatic knife. Yet take out as much weight as possible without compromising strength. What happened next is the Claymore 9070SBK. The strongest knife to date in the automatic line-up. Incorporating a wicked tough CPM-D2 steel for the blade. And borrowing several design cues from […]
Soft body armor is a type of personal protective equipment (PPE) that is designed to protect the wearer’s torso from bullets, shrapnel, and other forms of physical trauma. It is typically made of high-strength, lightweight materials such as Kevlar, Twaron, or our Duritium technology, which are able to absorb and dissipate the impact energy of […]
We’ve been a fan of NOCS Provisions for some time now. Having previously reviewed and still loving their Standard Issue Binoculars. However, a couple of recent additions to the NOCS line-up include a Monocular design that really peaked our interest. The Zoom Tube 8×32 Monocular. This smaller form factor is more compact, lighter, more packable […]
Former Law Enforcement Officer Torture Tests Olight’s Warrior Mini 2. Did it survive? I’ve had many pocket tactical lights over the course of my law enforcement and security career. I was one of the first officers in my department to carry one when they first came out in the mid nineties. Back then 60 Lumens […]
Checking over the final packing list for our trip to Costa Rica, I threw in a pair of Nocs binoculars at the last minute. Not an item I typically pack before getting on a plane. But the rugged waterproof Standard Issue 8×25 binoculars from Nocs made the trip. Their small footprint in my check bag […]
Most people are unsure of how to prepare for and deal with current threats. Democracy in this country is as close as it’s ever been to total collapse. There are so many elements that are putting pressure on us from all directions: the global war on terror, global warming, global financial meltdown, natural disasters, political […]
Over the last 14 months I have been testing the Keen Ridge Flex Boot on my photographic adventure around Alaska and in my daily life. As a nature photographer I find myself climbing over and around rocks, trees, mud, dirt and slime. All to chase small animals who don’t want to be photographed. While I’m […]
Owning a boat, ATV or RV can be fun. Recreational items are a great way to unwind and spend time with family and friends. Downsides to these items are the frequency of use and storage. Oh yeah, and cost. Unlike your daily driver that fits in the garage, recreational items often need to be stored […]
Everyone knows the importance of clean drinking water. So I won’t expand on that subject much. The trick is how easy and completely one can purify water. What if you had a container that you can scoop up 24 ounces of water from any fresh water source. Filter that water in under 10 seconds. And […]
For awhile I’ve been using a round stackable Esbit cook-set and have been more than happy with the little German stove. But when I recently opened the Esbit 1100ML Solid Fuel Cookset, I was pleasantly surprised. Its rectangle shape is very compact and reminded me of an old mess kit I had from the UK, but […]
Best known for their bombproof Tundra coolers, soft-sided Hopppers and drinkware, Yeti is continuing to innovate outside the box. The Yeti Camino Carryall Tote is one such product. Like all of the products that roll off the production line, the Camino is yet another over-engineered and well thought out item. Made from the same “Thickskin” material as […]
Kyle Defoor previously made a Facebook post about his absolute minimum EDC. In that post, he mentioned the old school mantra of ‘always have a watch and a knife‘ that was coined by the Frogmen/UDT teams of WW2. During WW2, the UDT guys would do beach reconnaissance with only their dive knife and wristwatch. At […]
When I was asked to review another travel backpack, I honestly was less enthused. I mean, how different can one be from another. And it feels like I’ve tested my fair share of them over the years. When I opened the package from Able Carry, a relatively new Hong Kong based company, I was pleasantly […]
