The Zero Tolerance ZT 308 – A Full Sized Option

March 17, 2023 by Travis Pike Leave a Comment

The Zero Tolerance brand is one that has a name that describes their product pretty damn well. Zero Tolerance makes damn fine knives the new ZT 308 is no different. The ZT 308 is a massive knife, at least when it comes to folding knives.

A little while back Zero Tolerance released the ZT 223, which was a smaller, lighter knife. At this point, I think it’s pretty clear that ZT invoking the calibers of cartridges to describe their knives. If that’s the case the ZT .50 will be a sword.

Inside the ZT 308

Back to our main topic, the ZT 308 is a big folding knife. The blade is 3.75 inches long and the overall length is 8.875 inches. The ZT 308 is a folding knife with a built-in rear flipper that springs the blade into action. The flipping action is incredibly smooth and surprisingly fast for such a big and heavy blade. This is due to smart knife design. The rear of the blade has a large swedge that reduces weight in an area where you can afford a little thinner of a blade.

The blade has a drop point tip and a massive belly. You have a very long cutting surface that lets you commit to deep and long cuts. The tapper tip improves piercing potential as well as tip strength. The ZT 308’s blade is made from premium steel called CPM 20CV. This steel is fantastic. It’s capable of being ultra-sharp, will retain an edge for an incredibly long time. This steel is very hard, corrosion-resistant, and tougher than you’ll need it to be.

The blade cuts and slides through materials both thick and thin. The design of the belly of the blade gives you a smooth cutting design. You can cut through thick ropes, cardboard, textiles of all types, and beyond. You could just as easily slice off BDU style uniforms and open mail at the same time.

The Handle

The grip of the ZT 308 is made of two different material types. The front-facing grip is a G10 material that’s heavily textured for a sure grip. On the other side, you have titanium that’s just as aggressively textured. The handle is textured for a sure grip and also wide so you disperse a lot of weight across the entirety of your hand.

This reduces hot spots too. The grip is aptly designed for heavy use, and for using gloves. It’s a tactical folding knife so I’d expect no different. The handle also has a reversible pocket clip and a lanyard loop. With the price of this knife, a lanyard makes a lot of sense.

The ZT 308 – It Never Says Give Up

The ZT 308 is an excellent knife with the backing of one of the best knife companies in the world. The 308 most certainly lives up to the Zero Tolerance name and reputation. The ZT 308 is a massive knife, and the size may dissuade some, but for others, it’s the golden, no FDE, goose that keeps on giving.
