The Gear Bunker
I’ve been carrying and using the Gerber Fastball folding knife for a while now. And it’s quickly becoming a favorite for situations where a smaller less attention-getting knife is appropriate. Gerber Fastball Review [Video] The Fastball carries discreetly in your pocket with its thin profile and lightweight, making it barely noticeable. The clip allows it […]
For the most part, I’ve never been a fan of reversible jackets. They’ve been around forever but never executed very well in my opinion. You can always tell which side was designated as the primary and which one was clearly an after thought. Beyond Clothing of Seattle, Washington might have just changed my opinion on […]
These Oakley SI American Heritage FuelCell sunglasses convinced me to switch sunglasses styles for the first time in 7 years. The polarized PRIZM Oakley lens offers truly unparalleled optical clarity. It truly does increase contrast compared to other lenses and polarized lenses. The frames offer an excellent mix of protection and peripheral vision, which is […]
“It’s a completely inconspicuous way to carry your gear. On your head, the Cache Cap looks like your everyday hat. What you don’t see, is that on the inside this cap has 6, count ’em, SIX HIDDEN POCKETS!” ~wazoogear.com I’m a hat guy. It’s rare that I leave the house that I don’t have a ball […]
The sun is out and it’s going to be one of those hot summer days. Time to head to the lake for a day on the boat. Grab the towels, sun screen, food, beverages, PFD’s and off you go. I’ve done this time and time again. And one thing I’ve neglected is having a useful […]
My son and I, while planning a 2 week Overland route through Colorado and Utah, decided to add a wrinkle to our packing list. A boat. Or something suitable to get out on a lake, river or whatever body of water we may come across on this adventure. Owning a pair of fast sea kayaks […]
I recently received the Uncharted Supply Triage Kit for review. A few things I noticed right away is the small size, light weight, and that it was packaged in what appears to be a water proof sack. Upon opening the kit via the waterproof Velcro closure similar to dry bags I found a selection of first […]
Spring is upon us, and with the nicer weather comes more time outdoors. Looking over the closet of gear that I’ve acquired over the last few years, I asked myself, If I had to pick a few pieces of gear that directly influenced me to spend more time outdoors, what would it be? Those pieces […]
In the first Bourne movie there is a scene where Jason Bourne goes to a bank and accesses a safe deposit box. In the box are various forms of identification, cash and a pistol. He takes the ID and cash and begins his journey to avoid the forces looking to capture or kill him. I […]
Built for Adventure, the rugged & dependable Hardside Hydration works with Nalgene & Camelbak bottles. In the ’90’s we upgraded from carrying canteens in the Army to using hydration bladders. Camelbacks were all the rage and made not only carrying water easier but consuming it easier as well. I recall stuffing a hydration bladder into […]
The Zero Tolerance brand is one that has a name that describes their product pretty damn well. Zero Tolerance makes damn fine knives the new ZT 308 is no different. The ZT 308 is a massive knife, at least when it comes to folding knives. A little while back Zero Tolerance released the ZT 223, […]
A fact of life while traveling is ensuring you pack the correct charging cables for various devices. A recent trip to Grenada exposed just how many cables and charging bricks I needed to pack. Laptop, tablet, phone, GoPro, AirPods and Dive Computer. Fortunately, three of those items can be charged wirelessly. And that’s where the […]
The Gerber Impromptu pen is built for something like an NPE. For those that don’t know, NPE stands for Non-Permissive Environment. It is a military/intelligence term for an area of operations in which you can either expect apathy or outright hostility from the local authorities. Because what you’re doing isn’t exactly sectioned. The equivalent of […]
