Adding to the new LTE Line, SOG incorporated high tech materials to help the Kiku XR LTE shed 1.5 ounces. In 2019, Studies and Observations Group (SOG) started a brand overhaul, sort of. Redesigning and updating existing knives in the line-up. Exploring new boundaries in manufacturing and materials. Upgrading the presentation and packaging. And developing […]
You just wrapped up another long hard work week and are looking forward to the weekend. As you leave the office and walk out to the parking lot, all you can think of is the weekend. Throw the briefcase in the backseat, take a deep breath and turn the key. Nothing… Try again and again […]
Having an extra flashlight can help make life at camp easier when you need a light. Olight’s new flashlight, the Seeker 4 Pro, fits in at the campsite and around the neighborhood as a high-powered torch for low-light situations. Building on the Seeker 3 Pro, Olight has introduced the Seeker 4 this year. Olight was […]
Matches have been around for quite some time, they have been carried, and used by most outdoorsmen. Matches tend to be frowned upon as a reliable ignition source for fire due to the match stick breaking (this can be attributed to the individual’s technique the majority of the time), or the head of the match […]
Growing up, my Dad and I watched MacGyver every week to see what new things he would do with his Swiss Army Knife to get out of a bind. I also remember my Dad always having a Swiss Army Knife in his pocket regardless of what he was doing. My Dad preferred the Executive knife Victorinox offered […]
A little over a year ago, Olight sent me a Classic style lantern to review. And we’ve been using it ever since in our camper and out in the yard. It works great, and we’ve really enjoyed this addition. Recently I got my hands on the new and improved OLIGHT OLantern Music LED Lantern. Featuring […]
Compact, lightweight and very effective at removing snow. The Stealth Shovel from the DMOS Collective, although small, punches above its weight. Mechanical watches depend on you to […]
The Mystery Ranch Rip Ruck is built to survive the harshest commute, wherever that may be. What intrigued me the most about this pack is the fact that it contains no velcro areas for patches or molle webbing to mount external pouches too. Also, there are no unnecessary straps and buckles dangling on the outside. […]
One of the advantages of having a survival belt kit is that you always have the essentials on you to keep you alive in the event you get separated from all your other gear, whether that’s due to some accident or in an evasion scenario. When I was enlisted in the Marine Corps, I used […]

It’s December and for me and a few friends, that means our annual trip to Iowa to hunt Whitetail Deer. Every year, I study the weather leading up to the hunt to determine what type of clothing I need to pack. This year, I was fortunate enough to be given a Super Down ULTRA Jacket from KUIU […]
When I first entered the Marine Corps there was no handheld GPS to tell me where I was and how to get to my destination. We had to learn how to use a compass and protractor with our maps. Land Navigation courses were taught with the old school military issue Lensatic compasses and a map […]
