The High Performance 4200 Lumen Seeker 3 PRO from Olight

April 23, 2022 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Seeker 3 PRO

Looking to step up your personal flashlight game? The new high performance Seeker 3 PRO from Olight might be a good candidate for your consideration. Producing a whopping 4200 lumens, this compact light packs 31% more light than the previous Seeker 2 model. But that’s not all that the engineers at Olight improved.

Powering the Seeker 3 PRO is a large-capacity customized 5000 mAh rechargeable battery. Ensuring a max runtime of 15 days on the lowest 5 lumen “moon” setting. Yet still providing the oomph to throw light 250 meters on its highest 4200 lumen “turbo” setting. A proximity sensor dials back the light output when the light head gets close to an obstruction. A nice feature when reading a map or looking into a backpack. Recharging is handled through Olight’s clever MCC3 charging cable with a charging current up to 2A.

Ergonomics of the Seeker 3 PRO have been massaged as well. The addition of a textured silicone panels on either side of the barrel offer fantastic grip. Not only are these panels textured, they have finger grooves molded in as well. The aluminum body measures 5.2″ in length. With a 1.1″ body diameter and 1.38″ head diameter. Total weight with battery is 7.06 ounces or an even 200 grams. So I wouldn’t quite consider it an EDC light for carry in a pocket. It’s a tad large for that in my opinion. But the included nylon holster allows external connection to a belt, pack or MOLLE webbing.

Lighting Levels & Run time:

  • Turbo: 4,200~1,200~600 lumens, Run time: 2.5+127+35 mins
  • High: 1,200~600~300 lumens, Run time: 135+35+10 mins
  • Med: 300 lumens, Run time: 640 mins
  • Low: 50 lumens, Run time: 55.5 hours
  • Moon: 5 lumens, Run time:15 days
  • Strobe: Yes

Olight reimagined the switch as well. Adding an automatic lockout feature after 30 seconds of inactivity. The push button is now surrounded with a rotating dial. Rotating this dial 90 degrees unlocks the center button. Preventing the dreaded accidental discharge of the light while put away. The same dial also provides stepless dimming while the light is turned on. Tiny LED’s surround the rotating dial to indicate battery condition as well as brightness. Holding the button down while the light is on will toggle through 3 brightness settings. A double tap will access turbo mode. And a triple tap activates the strobe feature.

Final Thoughts:

After using this light for the past month, here are my final thoughts. Anyone that thinks Olight isn’t a contender in this segment needs to take a closer look. I’m always impressed with not only the packaging, but the extremely high quality of their products. Especially their handheld flashlights. We’ve reviewed several of Olights weapon lights as well. Not only are these lights powerful, they are constantly upgrading existing models, improving battery technology and increasing performance. And all at a price that most people can afford. The Seeker 3 PRO is a great example of their constant pursuit to improve a design.
