Baton 3

Flash Sale on the new Baton 3 LED rechargeable flashlight from Olight. March 18, 2021

The design and engineering team at Olight has cooked up another interesting LED flashlight variant. The Baton 3. This falls into the tiny EDC light category measuring in at a scant 2.48″ in overall length. But this little light can still punch above its size. With a max output of 1200 lumens in Turbo mode, the Baton 3 can light up the room. Additional power settings, high (300 lm), medium (60 lm), low (12 lm) and moon (0.5 lm) offer various lighting options for the situation. And battery management.

Take a peek at our previous reviews of the Olight Baldr Pro and PL-Mini 2 Valkyrie weapon mounted lights.

What sets the Baton 3 apart is its new wireless charging dock. Much like the Apple AirPods that can recharge while nested in their case, the Baton 3 follows a similar path. Included in the Premium Edition is a case containing its own battery that keeps the Baton 3 topped off at all times. An onboard 3500 mAh battery is capable of recharging a depleted Baton 3 Flashlight 3.7 times. you no longer need to worry about running out of juice. The case measures approximately 3.25″x2.25″x1.18″ and is recharged via an included USB-C cable. Perfect for a backpack, purse or even a cargo pocket.

Baton 3 Premium Video Overview:

The flashlight itself offers flexible mounting solutions as well. A dual direction pocket clip can be clipped to the brim of a baseball cap for hands free operation. Or can be used for deep carry in a pocket. A magnet mounted to the tail cap introduces yet another way to utilize the Baton 3 hands free. The tougher-than-nails milled aluminum case feels comfortable in hand and the single button is easy to use. Holding the button down cycles the light through the various power settings. And a double click enables “Turbo Mode”. A mode that throws maximum power for about 90 seconds before automatically reducing back to 300 lumens.

Final thoughts:

Olight is taking the whole experience seriously. From the very impressive packaging, to limited edition manufacturing of certain lights. They seem to be creating a culture within the EDC and lighting world. As a former soldier, I’m always a little skeptical on using anything rechargeable in the field. But for most people with access to electricity, this isn’t a concern. The Baton 3 Premium Edition solves the problem of depleted power cells by packing a portable wireless charger into the case. I’m impressed with the durability of the Baton as well as its numerous lighting modes and mounting options. And if you capitalize on the Flash Sale, you can get this kit for about $65. Regular price is still a fair $99.
