OLIGHT PL-MINI 2 Valkyrie | Sub Compact Pistol Light

January 25, 2021 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Valkyrie

If you’re in the market for a smaller, well built tactical light for your compact or even sub-compact pistol, this may be the ticket. Coming in well spec’d and at a modest price of only $89.95 is the PL-MINI 2 Valkyrie from OLIGHT. This 2.57 ounce light packs a 600 lumen LED with a 60 minute plus run time. It also features a slick magnetic recharging feature. Along with a brilliant adjustable rail and quick detach mounting system, this is clearly one of the best values out there.

OLIGHT PL-MINI 2 Valkyrie Demo:

I can’t get over how lightweight the PL-MINI 2 Valkyrie is. It’s barely noticeable on a pistol the size of a loaded Glock 19. I feel this little light would be well suited for any of Glocks compact or sub-compact frames. With such a small package, I didn’t have high hopes for brightness or run time. Boy was I wrong. 600 lumens, 60 minutes and a 100 meter throw? Impressive. Coupled to a QD mounting system that allows the user to slide the PL-2 forward and backwards with no tools. This little light is suited for an impressive list of pistols.

Final thoughts:

The OLIGHT PL-MINI 2 Valkyrie is a good choice for a home defense pistol. It’s bright enough to light up a room, easy to operate and its light weight makes it barely noticeable. However, the proprietary built in battery and magnetic charging system, although very slick, wouldn’t do well as a travel light in my opinion. Adding a cable and wall charger along with the time it takes to re-charge, wouldn’t be favorable in a tactical situation. I also look at situations a little differently than most. Once again, for the 95% of us that don’t operate in a tactical environment, the PL-MINI 2 Valkyrie will get the job done.
