Rifling is the process of incorporating spiral grooves into the interior of a firearm’s barrel in order to increase accuracy by imparting spin to the bullet as it exits the barrel. The traditional way of rifling has been to use lands and grooves; however, over the years, a new style of rifling known as 5R […]
Not too long ago at the grocery store, I decided on an impulse to pick up a copy of Forbes Magazine. I typically go for the tactical gun type magazines, but I wanted to change it up a bit. The article that caught my eye was one on Steve McQueen’s Rolex Submariner watch, that will […]
Benchmade recently set out to design a full frame, full size automatic knife. Yet take out as much weight as possible without compromising strength. What happened next is the Claymore 9070SBK. The strongest knife to date in the automatic line-up. Incorporating a wicked tough CPM-D2 steel for the blade. And borrowing several design cues from […]

I remember a day when an airline traveller could bring two check bags plus a carry on for free. And the allowable weight of the check bags were somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 pounds. Now that airlines charge for all check bags, with a few exceptions, the carry-on bag has become the new hot […]
More and more Americans are finding reasons to own an EDC utility knife in order to be better prepared in today’s unpredictable world. We’ve been a fan of NOCS Provisions for some time now. Having previously reviewed and still loving their Standard Issue Binoculars. However, a couple of recent additions to the NOCS line-up include a Monocular design that really peaked our interest. The Zoom Tube 8×32 Monocular. This smaller form factor is more compact, lighter, more packable […]

I was one of the first officers in my department to carry one when they first came out in the mid nineties. Back then 60 Lumens […]
FRAGO: Let’s get some housekeeping items out of the way from the jump. I was never a Tier 1 Operator or a member of the Special Operations community. I served an enlisted tour as an infantryman in the U.S. Army in the early nineties and was fortunate to attend some great courses & schools, as […]

Wearing and properly caring for the correct next-to-skin, insulating, and outer layers can make the difference between life and death when working outside in the extreme cold. Rogers uses the helpful acronym, C.O.L.D, as one of his tools to […]

Checking over the final packing list for our trip to Costa Rica, I threw in a pair of Nocs binoculars at the last minute. Not an item I typically pack before getting on a plane. But the rugged waterproof Standard Issue 8×25 binoculars from Nocs made the trip. Their small footprint in my check bag […]
