The Gear Bunker
Firearms, Gear, Training & Industry Analysis
It isn’t too tough to find a good rifle that falls under the “budget” category. In fact, I recently put up a guide on that subject. Sometimes though, you need to dream bigger. Drop the budget restriction, and aim for quality and precision! Let’s take a look at one High-Performance Hunting build and the suppressor that […]
When it comes down to purchasing a fixed-blade knife for outdoor use, whether it’s for camping, backpacking, or to practice bushcraft and survival skills, you could potentially drop a lot of cash on something you don’t really need. I’m not saying you shouldn’t spend the extra money on a quality knife, but if you’re just starting out, you […]
Here at the Gear Bunker, we take our coffee seriously… Growing up I still remember the smell of coffee early in the mornings when my mom was getting ready. I always thought it smelled good, but always thought the taste was horrible. Fast forward several years to when I joined the Marine Corps. In the […]
Almost 20 years since Brad McCarthy originally devised the idea for Maxtrax, a new version has finally arrived. Improving on the already proven MkII version, the new Maxtrax Xtreme is now the penultimate pair of traction boards on the market. I’ve been using the MkII version of the Maxtrax for about 3 years now. Mud, […]
I recently received the Mission Workshop Fraction Rucksack for review. When I opened the box I immediately noticed that this is not the usual style of backpack I’d choose. I usually trend towards the military style packs from 5.11 and similar companies. This pack was a different animal, at least for me. I wasn’t going […]
After receiving the Pulsefire LRT (Long Range Torch) from Exothermic for a test session, I can tell you one thing for sure. I have yet to meet someone unwilling to try it out. And I haven’t seen anyone try it out without smiling or laughing after. I mean, who wouldn’t want to throw flames 25 […]
Available in a variety of styles, the Ranger Series from Mammoth Coolers offers the perfect sidekick for keeping food and beverages chilled anywhere adventure takes you. Double-walled rotomolded construction and a built-in stainless steel hinge system ensure the Ranger can stand up to anything the outdoors can throw at it, from abuse at the campsite […]
Benjamin Franklin once said, “a place for everything and everything in its place.” It’s a motto we use within our family while boating or camping. Overland travel is no different. Organization is something I’m always working on. And our camp kitchen always seemed to be without a perfect solution. Until recently. Yeti just introduced a […]
Spending time outdoors can create smelly people and gear, which can leave your vehicle smelling like a stink bomb and send your family and friends running for the hills. After hiking or transporting my dog, I often enter my truck, notice a stink, and want to destroy the stench. Ozonics Hunting has an answer to […]
Tires are the most vital point of contact between your vehicle and the road. A flat tire can quickly turn a pleasant drive into a stressful ordeal, especially if you’re unprepared. Thankfully, with the right tire repair kit, you can address minor issues yourself, without waiting for a tow truck. In this comprehensive review and […]
The Low Powered Variable Optic or LPVO, as we commonly refer to it, is a relatively new development in terms of optics. I have wondered about them and how they stack up to traditional optics and red dots on short barreled rifles. Well, fortunately for us our friends at ZeroTech Optics were kind enough to […]
If you’re looking for an affordable tomahawk that can take a beating, fits comfortably into small spaces, and doesn’t add much weight to your load, then the SOG FastHawk Tomahawk is just what you’re looking for. To top it off, it looks pretty damn cool, too. SOG and its products were inspired by the knives and tomahawks […]
I’ve been using an earlier version of the 5.11 RUSH12 backpack as my EDC and travel pack for the past two years. And it’s definitely one of my favorites. At the beginning of 2021 5.11 announced their updated line of RUSH packs, the 2.0 series with some clever enhanced features. I was immediately interested as […]
