Gundo Holsters | A Veteran Owned Company

Gundo Holster

Over the years the writers at The Gear Bunker have offered their opinions on many types and brands of holsters. Here we take a closer look at a small Veteran owned company, Gundo Holsters. A few years ago, I attended several long range shooting classes at Marksmanship Training Center. Most recently, I attended a red dot pistol course. Located in Lake City, Michigan, this premier facility offers some of the best training I’ve ever participated in. Primarily due to the quality and real world experience of their instructors. One of those instructors, Greg, is a former Marine, the Director of Training at MTC and owns Gundo Holsters.

Gundo Holsters strength is the menu selection of pistol/light combinations, colors and patterns of Kydex and attachment solutions. What you won’t find is long lead times for customization or high prices. For example, an in-stock OWB2F holster costs around $62 and ships within a couple days. A fully customized OWB2F like this Glock 17 with Olight PL-PRO and Holosun optic in the optional Multicam costs $84 and ships within 1-2 weeks.

OWB2F Full Size Light Holster Overview:

Some of the features of the OWB2F that stand out to me are how the mounting holes are configured. As well as the open ended holster. The mounting system allows the user to incorporate attachments from manufactures like Safariland, G-Code, Blackhawk and Blade-Tech. As well as 5 different options found on the Gundo Holsters website. I opted for the Universal Belt Clamp. This attachment quickly mounts to any 1.5-2.25″ belt with a locking hinge mechanism. No more feeding the belt through loops. At the end of the holster, you’ll notice that it’s wide open. This method accommodates standard barrels, threaded barrels and even compensators.

Retention is friction based and can be adjusted via three phillips screws with rubber grommets. The same can be said for the double magazine carrier. I’d recommend a drop of blue Loctite on these three screws once your desired retention is achieved. This will prevent the screws from backing out during repeated use over time. A few trips to the range this winter with this new set-up has been a pleasure so far. I plan to add an AR magazine carrier and a dump pouch to complete my range day / 3-Gun setup.

Gundo Magazine Carrier
