WeBoost Drive Sleek | Boosting Comms in Sketchy Coverage Areas

weboost Drive Sleek | Boosting Comms in Sketchy Coverage Areas

There is nothing more frustrating than a weak cell/data signal when either trying to talk to someone or navigating using your smartphone GPS. Typically GPS apps require a minimum signal to function correctly.

If you’re driving through an unknown area and relying on your GPS, you better have solid comms with the cell towers.

weboost Drive Sleek will ensure you have solid comms in those sketchy coverage areas.

The Importance of a Cell Signal Booster

A few years ago I made a road trip to Northern Michigan to meet up with my partner in crime, Erik. We installed the Decked system in the bed of the Trail Boss and then proceeded to meet up with an overland group led by Michigan Overland. During the weekend we covered somewhere in the neighborhood of 160 miles of trails.

Comms were extremely spotty the entire time. Thankfully, the guy leading the pack knew the area pretty well. Between everyone there, someone typically always had enough signal to periodically check our position via GPS.

When Erik and I decided to pop smoke from the group and head home, it was up to us to get out of the remote area and back to the main roads. We both have Midland radios in our trucks and were able to maintain comms between each other, but when it came to getting my GPS online, well that was a no-go.

I had service, but most of the time, until we got to the main interstate, it was 1 bar of service. That 1 bar of cell service was not enough for my GPS to locate me and route me back. Talk about frustrating. If only I had the weboost Drive Sleek package installed then.

Installing the weboost Drive Sleek

Since then, I’ve been making some small upgrades to the truck as time and money allow. One of my recent upgrades was adding the weboost Drive Sleek cell signal booster unit to my truck.

Installation is quick and painless as you’ll see in the following video.

The weboost drive sleek and all other options from weboost require some signal. At least 1 bar of cell service. If you have that 1 bar of service, then with the weboost system, you’ll get a total of 2 to 3 bars of service. These do not create a signal, only boost an available signal.

If you’re a road warrior during the week or weekend offroader, you’ll want to take a hard look at the options that weboost offers. You may not think that spending the money on a cell signal booster is worth it, but you’ll thank me later.

It only takes one time to help you make an important phone call or to have your GPS safely route you home. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
