Walker Razor Electronic Ear Muffs | Range Worthy Ear Protection

June 15, 2022 by Travis Pike Leave a Comment

Walker Razor Electronic Ear Muffs

The first time I purchased a pair of electronic ear muffs I knew I couldn’t go back. Since then I’ve had all types of earmuffs and plus of varying electronic capabilities. Right before I left for SHOT Show 2020 my favored pair broke on me. I left on a Sunday and it was Saturday afternoon. On my way to the airport, I grabbed a pair of Walker’s Razor ear muffs and put my faith in them as I tossed them in my bag and checked it for the long ride across the country.

SHOT Was a Good Time

That was in January and I’m writing in June to say the Walker’s Razor ear muffs are an awesome, and incredibly affordable pair of electronic hearing protection. Durability is outstanding. Anything that stands up to being handled by American Airlines baggage handlers twice has to well made right? I used them at SHOT’s Range day, and at every shooting event, I’ve attended since. I don’t praise much as gospel in the world of guns, but I will always praise electronic ear protection and preach it’s merits.

Speaking of Merits

The reason I purchased electronic ear protection prior to SHOT wasn’t because SHOT doesn’t offer hearing protection. They simply don’t offer good hearing protection, especially when you are in the media and are trying to ask questions, take notes, and listen to presentations on a range where hundreds of guns are going off. The Walker’s Razor ear muffs proved themselves incredibly handy throughout the range day.

Not only are they handy, but extremely comfortable. They have thick pads that cup the ears to keep noise out but to ensure complete comfort. The Razor ear muffs were incredibly comfortable and remained so all day long during a very lengthy range day.

As a firearms writer they have merit, but as a serious shooter, they have even more merit. If you attend a class without electronic hearing protection you might not be getting the most out of your training. How can you hear what the instructor is telling you on the firing line? Firing line corrections are the most valuable portion of training classes.

Let’s not forget the safety aspect. It’s a lot easier to hear the phrase, “Cease Fire,” when you are wearing electronic hearing protection. The Razor ear muffs give you that advantage at a very fair price point.

The Razor Ear Muffs In A Nutshell

These muffs are compact and bulk-free. They fold down into a package small enough to fit in a cargo pocket. These earmuffs utilize two AAA batteries in an easy-access compartment. The Razor Ear Muffs has a noise reduction rating of 23 dBs and they sport 2 Hi-Gain omnidirectional microphones. The sound activated protection takes .002 seconds to turn on and ensure your precious ears are always protected.

The Razor Ear Muffs do have clear sound, not music quality, but clear enough to easily have a conversation with multiple people. The volume control is a simple dial that also acts as the on switch. It’s the only control and it’s easily placed for safe activation while at the range.

My last pair of electronic ear muffs were very nice, considerably more expensive and I did love them. With all that said I still don’t see a reason to buy another pair when I have the Walker’s Razor ear muffs. They may not be fancy, but they provide excellent protection, are comfortable, easy to use, and extremely durable.
