Upgrading the AR-15/AR-10 with the Magpul MOE-SL Carbine Stock

After building my AR-10, I needed a better stock that could take the punishment from the .308 caliber. At first, I didn’t know if the MOE-SL stock would fit on my buffer tube because it was such a tight fit. After reading the instructions I was able to slide the stock on with no problem. And adjust it to my preferred position with the dual-side release latch.

Multiple sling options make the MOE-SL versatile for any setup with a rear push-button QD mount and two standard sling strap cutouts. The dual-side release latch is positioned under the sloping cheek weld to give the stock a streamlined look. With the Enhanced Butt-Pad you get more aggressive styling and extra cushion to handle the recoil.

During testing of the Magpul MOE-SL Carbine Stock on my AR-10, I was impressed with how well it absorbed the recoil of the .308. The stock stayed locked in position providing maximum comfort and ergonomics while shooting. I put it to the ultimate test when a round would not eject.

So I “mortared” the rifle to get the round out. (slamming the stock on the ground while pulling rearward on the charging handle). The MOE-SL didn’t even flinch and I was able to clear the malfunction. Besides being a solid piece of furniture its design provided maximum comfort and maneuverability. Adding the enhanced butt-pad gave the rifle a rugged look and felt right at home on the AR-10.
