Torture Tested! Olight Warrior Mini 2 Tactical Flashlight

Former Law Enforcement Officer Torture Tests Olight’s Warrior Mini 2. Did it survive?

I’ve had many pocket tactical lights over the course of my law enforcement and security career. I was one of the first officers in my department to carry one when they first came out in the mid nineties. Back then 60 Lumens was considered bright, how things have changed. Out of the box what caught my eye about the Warrior Mini 2 was the knurling that gives it a secure purchase in hand, the side and tail cap buttons. Tail cap buttons are cool until you’re doing something where that style of grip becomes awkward like doing a check of an area for a lost child. The second thing that grabbed me is the magnetic charging cable. Just plug the cable into any USB compatible port and it magnetically attaches to the tail cap for charging. The magnetic feature of the tail cap allows it to attach to the roof of a vehicle so that it doesn’t fall off.

WARRIOR Mini 2 Torture Test Video:

The WARRIOR Mini 2 has 5 brightness levels with the max being an upgraded 1720 lumens. The max brightness is blinding when shined directly into your eyes plus there is a strobe feature. Operation is smooth and simple with the brightness changed by the number of button clicks. Battery run-time varies with the brightness level selected. The WARRIOR Mini 2 also comes with a proximity sensor contained within the bezel. When the sensor detects an obstruction, it reduces the brightness automatically. If the obstruction continues for sixty seconds or more the light will automatically turn off to prevent overheating. This is a nice feature since I’ve personally experienced a light overheating in my pocket because I failed to turn it off.

Based my experiences as a police officer, I conducted a series of torture tests on the WARRIOR Mini 2 to test its durability.

  • Frozen in water and ice for a period of approximately fifteen hours
  • Dropped and kicked against the curb
  • Left on the roof of my vehicle and allowed to hit the ground when driving away
  • Repeatedly struck against a brick wall
  • Slammed in the vehicle door repeatedly
  • Run over by a vehicle repeatedly to include braking on it

Final Thoughts:

Despite getting scraped, gouged, bent, and chipped the WARRIOR Mini 2 continued to function as advertised. I’ve seen a number of other brand flashlights fail when subjected to one of the above mentioned abuses. I would gladly carry this light for professional or personal purposes without hesitation. I like this light a lot it has multiple functions, the magnetic charging, its ability to stand up to abuse, with an MSRP of $79.95 I think this is a great buy.
