The Bang Box Range Gear from G-Code | Ultimate Organization

December 3, 2022 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Being organized prior to arriving at the shooting range is something I strive for. It just makes the process easier and training more efficient. Up until now, I would load .50 Cal ammo cans of loose ammunition into the truck. Which can weigh as much as 20+ pounds per container. Do we really need to haul 40 or 60 pounds of ammo for a typical range day? Probably not. So I started my search for a more compact, soft sided ammo solution. And I landed on the G-Code website looking at something called a 3Fer. The 3Fer is a combo kit consisting of three individual Bang Box, 3 caliber patches and a bag just big enough to hold everything. Further streamlining and organizing a day at the range.

The base of the Bang Box is made from sturdy Kydex. While the top portion of this hybrid case is nylon. A large zippered opening allows you to easily dump boxes of ammunition in them. And provide ample room to get your big mitts in there to scoop out ammo. Inside the lid of the Bang Box is a little sewn in pocket to store ammo load or lot info. However, I use them to hold additional caliber patches. Since we use several calibers of ammunition, I purchased a few additional caliber patches to affix to the top of the Bang Box’s generous velcro panel. Making for quick identification of caliber.

The beauty of these Bang Boxes and 2Fer/3Fer combo kits are the level of customization. There are several different fabric colors and Kydex combinations to pick from. Furthermore, you can pick yet another color for the 3Fer bag. Plus choose from three different color combinations for the caliber patches. The combinations are plentiful but I went with Multicam to match my rifle case and 5.11 Rush72.

Although we typically load magazines at home, it’s nice to have additional loose ammunition on hand to extend the session. I’ve found that storing ammo loose is much more space efficient than in the manufacturers boxes. Additionally, you’re not left with a bunch of cardboard or styrofoam trash to manage as you depart the range. The 3Fer is perfect for a 3-Gun competitor as you can store pistol, rifle and shotgun shells separately. You can also store cleaning supplies, spare parts or anything else in the Bang Boxes.
