SOG Knives SEAL XR | Built by Professionals for Professionals

SEAL: Sea, Air and Land

When you think about SEAL’s we all picture an elite professional, battle-hardened, exceptionally trained, and a fully equipped badass operator. Well SOG made that into a knife, the SEAL XR.

The SOG SEAL XR is just that, a Top Tier Knife. It is designed to be extremely durable, with high corrosion resistance and exceptional edge retention. This knife can handle any task you throw at it. It features SOG’s super strong locking mechanism, which allows the user full security. Whether you are carrying this on your kit or EDC (everyday carry). It folds nicely with ease. It’s lightning-fast, fully ambidextrous, manual opening is as smooth and quick as any operator.

When I’m selecting a knife, whether for EDC or my kit, I need it to be dependable, reliable and sharp. I can’t just have any old knife, it needs to be the best. I want it to be able to handle anything and everything. From everyday usage to being fully functional in the most austere environments. The top 3 things I look at are:

The Blade

First things first, it’s a knife! It has to be sharp. Typically, you would think a partially serrated blade. But for me, I want a single sharpened edge. It provides me clean cuts and easy serviceability. It allows for easier sharpening, whether in the field or at home. If shit hits the fan and I need to sharpen my blade, I don’t want to take the time to deal with serrations. A single sharpened edge gives me the ease I need. Its 3.9-inch long blade at .186-inch thick is an absolute tank of a knife, that maintains an unmatched cutting edge. That’s why I chose the SOG SEAL XR.

The Grip

\When picking my knife, the grip is important. With that SOG Knives have always been a favorite of mine. Their ergonomic handles offer comfort, dexterity, and security. Whether I am on the battlefield with gloves or back home, I never developed hot spots. The SEAL XR isn’t any different. It feels great with or without gloves. The scales aren’t as rough as I would’ve thought. Its .696-inch thick handle allows for a substantial amount of grip without the fear of sliding up. SOG’s innovation in the grip remains Top Tier with this knife.\

The Maintenance

When your environments are constantly changing, you need to be able to rely on the ease of maintenance. From deserts to mountains, oceans to rivers, and cities to jungles. I need a dependable knife that I can maintain with my tools on hand. The SEAL XR is equipped with star screws all through-out the knife. Which makes for ease when needing to clean and lubricate. Sharpening is just as easy. The heat treatment is absolutely amazing on the S35VN steel, which allows for easy sharpening.

To conclude, whether you are an operator or civilian, the SOG SEAL XR is just that, a Top Tier Knife for pros. From its blade to handle, it provides the feel and full functionality of a SEAL knife. The fact that it’s foldable, makes it even better. It’s easy to carry and fun to show off. I highly recommend the SOG SEAL XR. It’s not just a knife or a tool, it’s a statement.
