SIG MPX 9mm LULA Magazine Loader and Unloader

September 12, 2022 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

LULA

As most of you know, magazine loading kinda blows. Especially those high-capacity 9mm magazines. When SIG Sauer introduced the MPX, I pulled the trigger and received one of the 1st generation SBR’s.

It arrived with four 30-round 9mm magazines. Although I love the 30-round capacity, those well-made Lancer magazines have a pretty stout spring in them. And loading can be a bit of a pain in the thumbs.

Especially the last few rounds. That’s where the SIG MPX LULA from Maglula comes in. Small in size but huge in efficiency, this device is pure genius.

I recently reviewed the UpLULA Pistol Mag Loader from Maglula and was very impressed with its performance. But the SIG MPX LULA operates much differently than the grip and squeeze UpLULA. Once attached to the top of the MPX magazine with a positive click, a cam-type lever depresses the follower.

Because the MPX utilizes a double stack configuration, the loader has a double cam that depresses each column of 9mm rounds independently. Pull the lever forward, insert 1 round. Push the lever back, and insert another. Simple as hell. And because the cam pushes the stack down, there is no tension when loading the next bullet. It literally drops in with no effort.

Another nice feature of the SIG MPX LULA is its ability to rapidly unload a full magazine. In the video below, you’ll see how effortless the process is. What I can’t wrap my head around is why you would need to unload a fully loaded MPX magazine.

Unless the MPX itself breaks down, which is very unlikely, I’d think using the rifle to unload a full magazine would be the way to go. Needless to say, I can’t recall returning home from the range with loaded magazines in the recent past. But I understand that law enforcement and military personnel may need to use this feature at some point.

  • Simple to use in either mode
  • Eliminates thumb pain and injury
  • Eliminates wear on feed lips
  • Prolongs magazine life
  • Lightweight and fits in pocket
  • Reliable in all weather
  • Durable reinforced polymer
  • Purchase here for $34.99

As small and reliable as the products from Maglula are, there really isn’t a valid excuse not to have one. Unless you are one of those guys that love the pain of loading high-capacity magazines.

Priced at only $34.99, it’s hard for me to go back to the old-school thumb-busting method.

Due to an overwhelming supply of counterfeit LULA products infiltrating the US market, Maglula has issued this warning as well as recommendations for trusted resellers:

Low quality Chinese counterfeit loaders cloning our patented UpLULA™ universal pistol magazine loaders are offered for sale on Amazon and eBay. Commingling (mixing) of genuine and counterfeit loaders in the same Amazon bin may result shipping of counterfeits. Please refrain from ordering loaders at Amazon or eBay until further notice. If you suspect receiving a counterfeit loader, please take few pictures of packaging and loader and send it to info@maglula.com. We’ll let you know counterfeit or genuine. Please shop at local gun stores you trust and from companies we ship to direct: Brownells, MidwayUSA, Cabela’s, BassPro, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Turner’s, CheaperThanDirt, Sportsman’s Guide, ShopRuger. Be cautious of counterfeits at weekend gun shows and markets. Some Chinese knockoffs are very similar to our own deceivingly having ‘UpLULA’ and ‘Made in Israel’ embedded in them and packed in blisters similar to ours.
