Roofnest Falcon Roof Top Tent | Unboxing and set-up

November 5, 2022 by Erik Meisner 2 Comments

After an extended wait time for the new Roofnest Falcon hard-shell roof top tent to arrive, it’s finally here. Between delays in manufacturing and a truck driver shortage slowing down deliveries, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this new tent. The shipping company delivered this roof top tent and I wasted no time unboxing, inspecting and installing it on our FJ Cruiser. Additionally, I did a quick shake down ride on a few trails to make sure there weren’t any loose ends or undesirable squeaks. Finally, I stopped by a lake to set it up for the first time.

Roofnest Falcon Set-Up

Amazingly, the Falcon set-up time is under 2 minutes as is the break-down. Which will pay off in spades when getting into camp late or during a rain storm. The overall construction seems to be very high and the stainless steel hardware is solid. The side doors open into the tent floor which will take some getting used to as our previous tents doors rolled up and stowed. So despite the temperatures dipping into the 30’s this weekend, my wife and I are itching to get out at test the Falcon. Along with the Joolca HOTTAP and a few other new items.

Roofnest Falcon Features:

  • Sleeps: 2
  • Interior: 88″L x 48″W
  • Exterior: 90″L x 50″W
  • Height: 6.5″ when closed
  • Max Headroom: 60″ when open
  • Width left-right between Roofnest mounting rails: 24″
  • Minimum distance front-back between rack crossbars: 30″
  • Weight: 140 lbs
  • Included With Tent: 8.5′ ladder, anti-condensation mat, detachable pocket
  • MSRP $3395.00

I have a BajaRack Flat Utility Rack on my FJ. So I used the roof tent brackets from Bajaracks to mount my RoofNest
