Rivian R1 Ripping up the Trails in Off Road Testing

July 14, 2020 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Rivian R1

If you’ve been following the race to produce an electric pick-up truck, you know there are only a few viable prototypes out there right now. One of those vehicles is the R1 from Rivian. I had chance to check out the R1 at Outdoor Retailer last summer and I can say, it’s a legitimate contender. The specs and capabilities also lead me to believe it may be an excellent Overland vehicle.

Trail Testing the Rivian R1

Rivian’s R1 features a fully-electric drivetrain, 400+ mile range, quad-motor, 750HP, in a truck that also produces 829 ft/lbs of torque. With that much power and operating four individual motors, you can only imagine what “driving modes” the software engineers will come up with to conquer varying terrain.

R1

Although we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of these fully electric off-road trucks, you still can’t purchase one quite yet. But pre-ordering one on the Rivian website will surely give you something to look forward to.
