New From Benchmade – 535BK-2 Bugout and 537GY-1 Bailout

Benchmade Knife Company is introducing a handful of new models this January and these are the first two exciting announcements.  Please check out the details below about the new 535BK-2 Bugout and 537GY-1 Bailout variants. If you need additional details, have questions, or would like to test/review a model, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Also, if you haven’t set up an appointment to check out all other new releases coming to SHOT Show, we’d love to get that locked in.

The Bugout family and the subsequent 537 Bailout models were designed to be a tough, but lightweight carry option for folks looking for performance but who also wanted to shed unnecessary ounces. The Bugout was designed to be a go-to for backpackers and outdoor adventurers, but the concept was quickly adopted by the EDC community due to its slim profile and perfect in-hand feel. Last year’s 537 Bailout was a response from law enforcement and military, requesting a similar concept for their needs. These new variants are in keeping with the originals, but step up the technical materials to a level not seen in other knives.

Personally, I am stoked to be adding both of these into my daily and adventure carry as the new go-to knives in the collection. The M4 blade steel on the Bailout brings insane edge retention, strength and toughness. Meanwhile, the carbon fiber reinforced nylon polymer handle on this new Bugout is too innovative to ignore, especially on a model that already has a cult following.

The Bugout everyone has been waiting for. Blacked out from tip to tail, this Bugout will is bound to be an instant favorite. Now integrating Benchmade’s new CF-Elite handle material, a carbon fiber reinforced nylon polymer, resulting in the 535BK-2 weighing slightly lighter (17%) with a greater rigidity (50%) than Grivory handle variants. The new utilization of CF-Elite is the direct result of Benchmade’s product designers and engineers unending search to find methods and materials to improve and enhance the product line; pulling this material directly from the aerospace and automotive industries.

The CPM-S30V blade also features a diamond-like-carbon (DLC) coating to give extreme corrosion resistant to this truly strong and premium blade steel. Weighing in at only 1.8oz, this extremely light knife is perfect for everyday carry or any trip into the backcountry where ounces are being counted.

For those looking for something a little more robust, the new 537GY-1 Bailout takes lightweight strength one step further. Outfitted with woodland green anodized aluminum handles, and a CPM-M4 blade, this Bailout can hang with the best of them despite its slim profile. A carbide glass breaker tip on the pommel adds an additional touch of preparedness to a knife that is ready to put in work.
