Firearms, Gear, Training & Industry Analysis
Although winter is slowly winding down and spring on the horizon, there is still a ton of snowfall out west. We get a fair amount of snow here in Northern Michigan but dearly lack the terrain features to really enjoy alpine skiing. So we’re packing up and heading to Salt Lake City, Utah to make […]
Ok, let’s get the name Douchebags out of the way early. I chuckle every time I say it and apparently every time I type it too. It’s a funny name and I guarantee you’ll never forget it. So I’d call it marketing genius and nothing else. I was fortunate enough to get a sample of […]
I’m a traveler, adventurist and part-time explorer. Well, at least that’s how I see myself. Whether traveling to foreign countries or domestically, having the proper luggage remains a key factor. Unfortunately, there is no “one-size-fits-all” luggage. Because of this, the storage area under my stairs is chalked full of various sized bags for different missions. […]
My affinity for SCARPA shoes is evident when you peer into my closet. For over a decade, I’ve been using their shoes for everything from Overland adventure to roofing. Yes, as a contractor, I use the Crux when working atop walls and roofs. Although I’m not a rock climber per se, the style of the […]
Is anyone else tired of all the Black Friday advertising? Does our demographic even participate in the mayhem that big retail giants have created? Watching the news stories of frantic shoppers, fights over toys and mob scenes makes me think we’ve lost sight of the holidays all together. This is not what Christmas shopping is […]
At The Gear Bunker, we always prefer Made in the USA products when available even if it costs a little more. It’s even more fulfilling when you can shop Made in the USA products local to you. I’m not talking about big box stores local to you, I’m talking about the small business, who took […]

Magnusson began by making gloves for the local lumberjacks in his workshop. It soon evolved into skiing gloves and now over 80 years later, Hestra is in 25 countries selling over 400 […]
Tom Moran and Spyderco are both pillars in the knife community and they’ve been friends for a long time. The Spyderco Moran Drop Point is one of their best selling fixed blade knives and after my time with it, I see why. The Spyderco Moran Drop Point design has been around for a long time […]
When it comes to shotguns you don’t get a ton of lighting options. We’ve recently highlighted Streamlight’s TL Racker as one of the best options. If you are looking for a lighter option then give the Mk7 from Steiner a peek because they are currently on clearance. This is going to be your only chance […]
Have you ever been working under the hood of your vehicle and lost a tool or two and other small parts to the engine compartment somewhere? I know I have. From a task as simple as replacing a headlight assembly to a more complex engine issue, I always end up setting my sockets, wrenches and […]
Streamlight has always been a big name in illumination. The Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount HL-X Weapon Light is at the top. It is a unique gun-mounted tactical light, that offers a combination of features that helps it stand out among the best. Streamlight has integrated an aiming laser with the white C4 LED illuminator that […]
American manufacturer GrovTec has released a new option for minimalist hunters looking for a better way to carry their gun. By combining the features of a traditional Y-harness load-bearing system and sling, the Molle Padded BalancePoint Sling w/ Push Button Swivels permits the hands-free carrying of both rifle and small accessories. Ranchers, property owners, and cross-country […]
When it comes to staying hydrated while doing physical activity that requires you to be hands-free the Hydro Flask Journey Series 10L hydration pack has your back. After running with a water bottle in hand for way too long I decided to give this pack a shot for my hydration needs on the trail. It […]
When Zero Tolerance showed me their upcoming knife offerings at SHOT Show, the Tim Galyean designed ZT0223 jumped off the page at me. It oozed with the classic lines of past military style knives. In fact, the knife didn’t even look like a folder at first glance. Partly because of the handles semi closed back […]
