Many people, including myself, have overlooked flashlights as a part of our respective EDC. Instead, we rely on our phones’ lights which are occasionally unwieldy and less dependable to use in emergencies. Olight has introduced the Baton 3 Pro flashlight as an option to fill that EDC requirement for a standalone light source. Use Discount […]
I recently purchased a few MTM Survivor dry boxes for outdoor activities and possibly used as caches. The dry boxes come in either green or orange and either a small or large size. I went with the large size in green. The MTM Survivor box has the following features: Water-resistant O ring seal Padlock tabbed […]
A trip down to Appalachia to compete in the Red Clay Rally offered a perfect setting to test a new piece of kit from the folks at GSI Outdoors. After waking up in a frost covered tent, especially when it’s below freezing, the first thing on my mind is a hot cup of coffee. Well, […]
I’ve always been a knife person and have carried various models of a Syderco knife since they first hit the market in 1990. A few years ago I was attending the Direct Action Group’s VIP/PSD Course and the Max Joseph the owner and lead instructor recommended the Spyderco Delica. It’s his go-to knife for daily use […]
As most of you know, magazine loading kinda blows. Especially those high-capacity 9mm magazines. When SIG Sauer introduced the MPX, I pulled the trigger and received one of the 1st generation SBR’s. It arrived with four 30-round 9mm magazines. Although I love the 30-round capacity, those well-made Lancer magazines have a pretty stout spring in […]
The Violent Nomad philosophy focuses on preparedness, self-reliance, and building layered systems for everyday readiness.
Well, the FJ Cruiser is now the official mobile billboard for The Gear Bunker. And I can already tell it’s working. People are commenting on our YouTube channel that they saw us somewhere. Folks are looking up the website from the sidewalk as they check out our little Overland rig. And it’s all because of […]
Corvus Defensio developed the UBC-43 Holster, especially for the purpose of deep concealed carry of slimline versions of the Glock pistol series. Despite that there are similar products out there already – primarily for double-stack pistols – none of them fulfilled our desires. The wish to carry a Glock 43 deeply concealed, loaded, safe, and […]
Last October, I flew to Chattanooga to link up with a friend that I met at Overland Expo. Our half-cocked plan was to compete in the infamous 2020 Red Clay Rally. A 3 day, 700 mile Overland Rally that spans both Kentucky and Tennessee. And eats vehicles for lunch. Loaded into his 80 Series Land […]
In the last few years, the number of manufacturers of USB device chargers has grown significantly. Everything from the cheap little charging sticks that give you a single charge to the larger ones that provide the ability to charge phones, tablets, and other USB-powered devices. I personally prefer a middle-of-the-road charger that can charge/power my […]
Gerber Knives have been around since the early ’90s and have a proven track record. I personally carried a Gerber folding knife during my enlisted years in the Marine Corps. The knife was always there and never failed me. I used it for everything from opening up that favorite MRE to prying open ammunition crates. […]
Kyle Defoor goes over his personal Harley Davidson DYNA Lowrider motorcycle and the modifications he’s made to it. Kyle has been riding motorcycles for 20+ years and knows a thing or two on taking them on multi-day road trips. He also covers his typical loadout when riding and how to keep everything low-vis, so that you’re […]
August 2020 was spent mostly on the road in The Gear Bunker’s FJ Cruiser. Spreading the word about our website while exploring some of the great trails that weave their way through the Rocky Mountains. From historic passes built by early settlers to rugged forrest service roads that access our beautiful National Forests. With a […]
The Surfshorts Wallet by Chums is a great option if you’re looking for a minimalist wallet. For me, this wallet fits my minimalist lifestyle almost perfectly. I’ve carried larger wallets in the past, but rarely found myself using half of what was inside it, so over the past few years I’ve tried several smaller low profile wallets in […]
