Iranian Sleeper Cells in America: How Prepared Do You Really Need to Be?

March 25, 2026 by Scott Witner Leave a Comment

Iranian Sleeper Cells in America

The threat of Iranian sleeper cells operating on U.S. soil is a legitimate national security concern. The FBI has said as much. And with U.S. and Israeli forces having struck Iran — Khamenei confirmed dead, Iranian retaliation already underway against U.S. military assets in the Gulf — the question of domestic readiness just got a lot less theoretical.

But most of what’s out there is garbage advice. If something goes sideways near you, it’s going to be fast and chaotic — and over before you ever get to your overbuilt go-bag. Your ferro rod and fishing kit aren’t helping you get your family out of a parking lot when an active shooter begins shooting. I see guys online stuffing rucks for situations they’ve clearly never thought through. Come on.

What I Actually Carry

My pistol is a PSA Dagger — carried daily and trained with regularly. Not a safe queen. Not off-body. On my person, every time.

I’ll carry a spare mag when it makes sense, but not always. What’s always with me is the SOE FUPA in my center console — tourniquet, chest seals, packing gauze, extra mags, emergency cash, and a power bank with cable. It’s the bag you hope you never need. But if the moment comes, you’ll be glad it’s there.

The Actual Threat Picture Right Now

Iranian proxy networks were here before the February 28 strikes, and they’re still here now. There are no active DHS or FBI domestic threat advisories as of publication, but the near-term risk is cyber and infrastructure. On the kinetic side, think inspired individuals acting alone or in small groups — not a coordinated assault on your neighborhood. The Austin bar shooting on March 1 was linked to Iranian-backed ideology within 24 hours of the strikes. That’s the reality of what this looks like.

Monitor dhs.gov/ntas. Have cash on hand. Lock in your family communication plan. Carry every day.

👉 The full breakdown — including my complete threat update — is up at The Truth About Guns. Worth reading in its entirety.
