Team Wendy Ceradyne and Theon International partner under a U.S. Army initiative to develop a next-generation helmet system enhancing protection and situational awareness.
Under a U.S. Army–funded initiative, Team Wendy Ceradyne and Theon International have announced a strategic partnership to develop a next-generation Integrated Multi-Threat Headborne System (IMHS). The effort is sponsored by the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center and is focused on improving Soldier protection, situational awareness, and lethality across multi-domain operations.
“With Army support and strong industry partnerships, we’re advancing head protection into a fully integrated helmet system—combining ballistic protection with enhanced situational awareness,” said Erik Cobham, President of Team Wendy Ceradyne. “This shift fundamentally changes how Soldiers perceive, decide, and respond on the battlefield.”
The shared-cost program integrates Team Wendy Ceradyne’s ballistic helmet technologies with Theon’s advanced electro-optical systems. The result is a modular, head-borne architecture designed to support mission-critical capabilities—such as seamless communications integration—while remaining adaptable to future operational requirements.
“We are honored to partner with Team Wendy Ceradyne on this critical U.S. Army initiative,” said Dr. Michalis Kolotos, Director of U.S. Operations for THEON. “Our focus is delivering head-borne power and data solutions that enable next-generation capabilities, including advanced day-and-night head-up displays and augmented reality, fully integrated with the Soldier’s power and battle management systems.”
The DEVCOM Soldier Center–sponsored team also includes Invisio, which provides lightweight tactical communications and hearing protection, and Revision, which provides ballistic and laser protective eyewear. The IMHS prototype will be evaluated by the Soldier Center during a Soldier Touchpoint in Q4 FY26 to assess performance and collect user feedback for future design phases.
