Fade Sling XL | Eberlestock’s New Covert Sling Bag

January 31, 2026 by Timothy Gauthier Leave a Comment

Over the past few years, I have been looking at ways to vary my bags to keep a low-profile EDC. I have been looking for a bag to transport a laptop that hangs a little better than a standard briefcase while still blending in with the crowd. Sling bags were one such option that I had considered. When Eberlestock asked me to try out their new Fade Sling XL, I gladly accepted.

Sling XL Overview

The Sling XL is a new addition to Eberlestock’s Fade line of bags. It is a larger version of their Fade Sling. It is 10.5″ wide, 15.5″ high, and 6.5″ deep. Its capacity is 1,275 cubic inches. On the front, there is an ambidextrous pocket for storing a map, a notebook, or a small tablet. The compartment also has a hook-and-loop lining for adding a small admin pouch. At the top, there is a stash pocket with a translucent mesh pocket. The stash pocket helps keep a battery pack and cables within easy reach.

The second compartment has a padded laptop sleeve that hangs above the Sling XL’s bottom. The sleeve is big enough to hold a 16″ laptop. The pocket also has space to store extra laptop equipment, such as a charging cable and a mouse, or additional files. Like the first compartment, there’s a hook-and-loop lining for Fade accessory pouches, such as the Admin Pouch. The last pocket is the clamshell CCW pocket. The section is large enough for a full-size pistol or a compact PDW. There is also a T-grip zipper that makes it easy to open the compartment when speed is needed. The CCW pocket also has a concealed opening for a soft armor panel. Both sides of the interior have hook-and-loop lining for more pouches or an AIWB holster panel.

At the top, next to the sling’s starting point, there is a concealed passthrough for comms wires or a hydration tube. A little further down the sling are two retention straps for the comms wire. At the sling’s end is a stash pocket for small items, such as keys or a knife. At the bottom of the Sling XL are three attachment points to adjust how the bag sits on the user’s back.

Final Thoughts

I have been finding the Sling XL to be a practical bag for office work and as a “light” go-bag. I appreciate how, even with a laptop, there is still enough room to conceal carry comfortably. Additionally, with the computer and gear, the bag is not uncomfortable to wear. If you are looking for a commuter or office bag, take a look at Eberlestock’s Sling XL.
