Esbit 1100ML Solid Fuel Cook Set | Compact & Lightweight

January 24, 2023 by Art Dorst 1 Comment

For awhile I’ve been using a round stackable Esbit cook-set and have been more than happy with the little German stove. But when I recently opened the Esbit 1100ML Solid Fuel Cookset, I was pleasantly surprised. Its rectangle shape is very compact and reminded me of an old mess kit I had from the UK, but with a lid. This cook-set is made from a hard anodized aluminum maintaining an extremely light weight. Inside of the pot features a handy capacity indicator in both ounces for the yanks and liters for everyone else. Also included is a handy mesh bag to store the stove and a few fuel tabs in.

The rubber coated handle folds over the top of the set to keep the set closed and secure. Squeezing the handle allows you to release it from the set and pivot it into position. A flip-up D-ring style handle on the lid keeps from scalding your fingers while lifting it off a hot pot. Inside the pot nests the stove stand and several packets of Esbit solid fuel. The lid also has a clip that allows it to be mounted to the side of the pot. Creating a nice wind block and keeping the lid off the ground.

Final Thoughts:

Throughout testing, I remained extremely pleased with the performance of the Esbit 1100 compact cook-set. One packet of solid fuel took approximately twelve minutes to cook a packet of Raman soup. What I really like is the rectangular shape of the set compared to my round stack on set. The shape makes it extra convenient for storage in a backpack or storage bin. And much more stable when cooking. I’m planning to replace my round kit with the 1100ML kit in my truck loadout. For those times while traveling when I want to stop to heat up some water for coffee. Or even a can of soup or freeze dried meal.

Take a look at the Esbit website to see their full line of solid fuel stoves.
