Ditch the jumper cables with the Portable Jump Starter from Shell

It’s 2021, time to ditch you grandpas jumper cables and stash a Shell Portable Jump Starter in your trunk. Much safer than traditional jumper cables, these new portable jump starters have multiple safety features built-in. Protection from over-current, spark, over-voltage, short circuit and even reverse polarity. Even if you accidentally connect the red clamp to the negative battery terminal and black to positive, you’ll just receive a warning indicator from the jump pack. No dangerous sparking or damage to the battery.

With three sizes to choose from (12,000, 16,000 & 24,000 mAh) , I selected the mid-sized 16,000 mAh unit as it best suits the type of vehicles we own. Measuring 9.17 x 3.46 x 1.42 inches this 12 volt 1200 AMP Lithium Ion battery can start up to 7.0 liter gasoline engines. And up to 3.0 liter diesel engines. With one of these in your trunk, you’ll never have to call AAA again. Or wait for a vehicle to jump start you. With two sons, I feel better knowing that each of them carry a portable jump starter. Especially with our cold Northern Michigan winters.

Shell SH916WC Portable Jump Starter Specs:

  • Charging Time: 9.5 Hrs @ 2A input / 5.5 Hrs @ PD 18W input
  • Operating Temperature: 4F – 140F
  • Accessories Included: Smart Jumper Cables, USB-C to USB-C Cable, USB-A Micro Cable, 2.4A Car Charger and EVA Storage Case
  • Ideal For: Cars, Vans, Pickup Trucks, SUV’s, Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, Personal Watercraft, Boats and RV’s
  • Gas Engines: Up to 7.0 liters
  • Diesel Engines: uptown 3.0 liters

What sets apart the jump starter from Shell is its versatility in charging small electronic devices. It not only has a pair of USB-A outputs on one end of the devise. It also sports a USB-C input/output and a USB-micro for charging the pack itself. The other end of the jump pack has a light with several modes. Including a spotlight, SOS beacon, lantern and red blinking light. But what takes the cake is the wireless charging for compatible phones. On top of the pack is a wireless charging icon. Just turn the unit on and lay your phone on top and voila.
