Costa Sunglasses introduces the FERG | Named after their founder Ray Ferguson

February 4, 2021 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Ferg

Ray Ferguson, founder of Costa Del Mar Sunglasses passed away in 2019 at the age of 82. What better way to honor their founder than design a kick-ass pair of shades and name them after him. The new FERG from Costa Sunglasses is a feature filled frame and it’s available with their new low-light lens, Sunrise Silver Mirror. This has been a lens I’ve been waiting for someone to come up with. Of all my sunglasses, and there many, none of them perform in the low-light spectrum all that well. I’m constantly flipping sunglasses onto my head when in the shadows or in those darker fringe hours of the day.

Ray Ferguson founded Costa Sunglasses with high standards and the frame bearing his name continues that legacy.

Another scenario that’s occurs in Northern Michigan is a thing called “winter”. Typically from December to late April, this season features bright white snow on the ground while filtering sunlight through clouds for 5 months. Causing a bright condition while void of direct sunlight. This is where the Sunrise Silver Mirror lenses shine. No pun intended. The yellow tint coupled with the silver mirror coating offers just enough glare reduction from the snow yet still enhances contrast. These lenses are my go-to for winter driving.

The Ferg from Costa Del Mar Sunglasses:

“Ray Ferguson founded Costa Sunglasses with high standards and the frame bearing his name continues that legacy. With a refined focus on top-of-the-line performance details including top and side shields, integrated textured Hydrolite rubber, and vented adjustable nose pads, and 100% UV protection polarized lens this frame is dedicated to days on the water. Nothing but the best – the Ferg.” ~costadelmar.com

Since the frames are in the founders namesake, Costa’s design team held nothing back. Mainly focusing on the tiny details that set one frame apart from the rest. Details like integrated textured Hydrolite rubber on the temples and nose bridge. Vented adjustable nose pads forming a custom fit for your beak. Top and side shields to reduce unwanted glare encroaching on the sides. An air channel on the interior of the temples to reduce sweat and improve air flow. These features make the Ferg a top performer in my opinion. With 4 frame colors to choose from and several polarized lens options, Costa’s webpsite is a great place to design your next pair of shades.
