Costa adds some ‘Merica with their new Freedom Series Sunglasses

December 19, 2020 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

freedom series

Look at you with your red, white and blue t-shirt for the 4th of July. And your American flag themed bathing suit. Well, Costa Sunglasses added a few accessory options for your patriotic outfit. Nine different pairs of sunglasses from their new Freedom Series, complete with a red, white and blue theme and star spangled icons for the temples. These notable sunglasses are perfect for any occasion, not just the 4th of July. And recently, I had the opportunity to use their “Fantail” around the water on a few recent trips.

The Fantail is a medium sized frame offering a “regular” fit. As always, the Costa line-up features their amazing 580 Polarized Glass lenses for ultimate clarity. (See the tech below) This has been my favorite feature especially when operating around water. The lenses ability to pierce through the surface glare and reveal what’s below the surface has been key. Especially when driving a boat into unknown waters.

The lightweight frame features a rubberized nosepiece and matching temples. These critical contact points afford a solid grip on your face while active and sweaty. The Fantails subtle wrap design make for a good windshield while driving a boat and help block annoying sunlight encroaching from the sides. While in Costa Rica, the Fantail shades from Costas Freedom Series protected my eyes from the bright equatorial sunlight. I even spotted sea turtles near the surface of the ocean on one occasion.

The FREEDOM SERIES FANTAIL Story

“Always ready to hit the flats or hook a deep-sea behemoth, the Costa Freedom Series Fantail sunglasses are the smaller but no less mighty kin of the Blackfin. The best polarized sunglasses on the water, these men’s performance sport fishing sunglasses with mirrored options are polarized, co-molded and are perfect for any Angler.” ~costadelmar.com
