CMMG RipStock | Rapid Deployment Buttstock

Short Barreled Rifles or SBR’s are all the rage. While most people concentrate on the barrel of their SBR build, they often neglect the other end of the rifle. The buttstock, one of the three critical interfaces with a shooter’s body can also be shortened for overall compactness. And CMMG has a new twist on this part. It’s called the RipStock. What sets this buttstock apart from a standard collapsible stock is how the mechanism works.

CMMG RipStock Video Review:

Typically, to adjust the length-of-pull (LOP), a shooter must depress a lever allowing the butt stock to slide along the buffer tube. The RipsStock from CMMG can be deployed to any predetermined length-of-pull by just tugging on it rearward. Additionally, a set screw can be installed limiting the extension to any of the 5 settings. Since pressing a lever isn’t required for deployment, the RipsStock can be rapidly extended and the weapon shouldered. However, a bottom mounted lever must be depressed to collapse the buttstock.

Ideally suited for short barreled rifles and sub-caliber builds, the RipsStock will further reduce the overall length of the weapon by approximately 1.5 inches compared to a standard carbine buffer and butt stock. Making it a great option for rifles carried in vehicles. Or where ultra concealment is paramount. Finally, the all-aluminum construction provides a very stable platform on my 2A Armament 3-Gun rifle. Due to its low overall weight, this shorter buttstock did not upset the balance of this rifle. In the video above, you’ll see a size comparison to a standard Daniel Defense Mk-18 buttstock.
