Briggs flannel from Dakota Grizzly | The perfect Autumn companion

August 25, 2022 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Dakota Grizzly

North of the 45th parallel, the days are quickly getting shorter as a colorful palette of leaves decorate my yard. And falling faster than the leaves are the ambient temperatures. It’s the start of flannel season in Northern Michigan. Meanwhile, almost 700 miles south in St. Louis, MO, Dakota Grizzly is busy designing some of the best fitting flannel shirts I’ve worn to date. I was recently introduced to this brand at Outdoor Retailer in Denver this summer. And while looking through the racks of supple and stylish shirts, I was shocked when I saw the retail price tags!

The fit-and-finish, fabrics used, small details and overall style had me thinking this premium brand could cost a small fortune. I had a price estimated in my head after trying on the Briggs flannel shirt from Dakota Grizzly. Yet was shocked when I peeked at the tag. $78…that’s it? Seriously? I was thinking a buck and a quarter minimum for that level of craftsmanship. So I did some research, got my hands on a Briggs and waited for fall to arrive. This classic buffalo plaid 100% cotton shirt feels amazing. Softer than the typical flannel and the fit is perfect for me. Accommodating my ape-like long arms. Clearly a lot of thought went into this design.

Red Clay Rally

A recent trip to Kentucky to compete in the Red Clay Rally was the perfect opportunity to see what it could do. With daytime temps in the 60’s and dipping into the 40’s at night. The Briggs was the perfect choice as my camp shirt. The rally lasted 3 days, each day returning to the same campsite. Evenings were spent re-fitting the rigs, cleaning up, cooking and telling war stories with a cocktail by the fire. The durability and comfort of the Briggs prevented me from dawning a jacket in the evening. And took the chill off in the morning as I emerged from the tent.

Dakota Grizzly

Back at the homestead, sitting around a fire, working in the yard or even chilling on the couch, the Briggs shirt is the perfect autumn companion. But that’s not all Dakota Grizzly produces. Jackets, t-shirts, short sleeve shirts, shorts and hats are also on the menu. Take a look at their website and see what flavors best suit you. And with the holidays around the corner, these are priced so reasonably, there is no excuse not to pick up something for someone special.

About Dakota Grizzly:

We weren’t born craftsmen. We were born explorers. This independent spirit is what sparked our passion to produce the heartland’s most premium and durable apparel. We’ve spent years studying iconic garment-making processes perfected by this country’s most notable artisans and have embarked on countless expeditions to the furthest corners of the world in search of the highest quality materials.
Our apparel is built for those who sweat the small things. From triple-needle stitching to embossed leather logos to microsuede trim accents, each distinctive feature plays a role in creating a style that’s uniquely ours. The most authentic traditions stand the test of time. Whether our expert garment makers are laying, marking, cutting, or stitching, their tried-and-true methods can be traced back to the earliest days of garment manufacturing — when time and quality were valued above all else. It takes a trained eye to see the perceived value of an item in its most unpolished form. We ventured to the most coveted sources around the earth so that we could convert premium, raw materials into the unrivaled products that we offer today.
