Stay Mission Ready with 5.11 Defender Flex Jeans and Oxford Shoes

April 19, 2023 by Scott Witner Leave a Comment

Urban Commuter Clothing

As the world around us becomes more violent, we need to prepare ourselves ahead of time to be able to react to such situations.

For those of us that have concealed carry permits and actually carry on a regular basis, we need to be able to do so without giving off the ‘tactical’ profile. The name of the game here is low vis concealment.

One of the companies that are at the forefront of this is 5.11 Tactical. Yes, they are known for their tactical line of gear and clothing, but they now offer a full line of low vis gear and clothing. In this article, we’re going to take a look at the 5.11 Tactical Defender Flex Jeans.

Since their inception in the industry, we’ve been able to wear them and get a good feel for how they work in urban environments. For the past few years, that’s all I’ve worn as far as pants are concerned. Seriously, the only pants I own and wear are the 5.11 Defender series. The fit is spot on, you’re movement is not restricted in any way and they’re extremely durable.

To the average person, these jeans appear to be the normal jeans that you would purchase at a local clothing store. Under the hood, though these jeans allow the responsible and prepared citizen to carry the necessary gear to confront violence with, yet look normal among a crowd of people.

In the event you have to engage with someone attempting to cause violence, you’re not going to be standing still. Chances are the situation is going to be very dynamic and involve moving to gain cover, running to get off the X or engaging in close hand-to-hand combatives.

The 5.11 Defender Flex Jeans allow you to comfortably move in those situations. I’ve been able to complete my workouts with these jeans on and never felt uncomfortable or like my movement was restricted. You need to be able to move with your kit on you. Stillness is death.

Out of the box, I was very impressed with the Mission Ready Oxford Shoes from 5.11. The shoe is built with quality and attention to detail and fits true to size.

The sole on the shoe is a Vibram sole similar to what you would see on a pair of boots. Due to the design of the shoes and sole, you’re able to re-sole these when the time comes. The leather upper of the shoes is a quality durable leather capable of being waterproofed and polished. Because of that capability, these shoes are a year-round option for footwear if your job or industry requires this style shoe.

The comfort level of these shoes is on point as well. Been wearing them every day all day for about a week now with no complaints. Speaking of comfort, there is no break-in period with these shoes either, so you can hit the ground running with them.

I would even go as far as to say you could actually run in these without any discomfort if the situation presented itself. Just as with the Defender Flex line of jeans and pants, the Mission Ready Oxford Shoes are capable of moving in a dynamic environment. If you’re an urban commuter these shoes are a huge win due to their comfort, durability, and ability to adapt to all weather conditions.

Whether protecting a client, watching over a venue, or working to keep a crowd safe, our Mission Ready Oxford helps you stay focused and ready. The D3O® Lite EVA midsole and Ortholite® X-25 footbed provide extra cushioning and all-day comfort, and an Ortholite Achilles Cuff adds even more comfort and heel hold. And when you need to move, the Vibram® Overland high traction outsole with XS Trek lets you step up without slipping up. Put on a pair to complete your undercover tactical wardrobe or dress up your go-to pair of jeans.

Will I be purchasing more of the above? Yes. Would I recommend them? Without a doubt, yes. Do yourself a favor and add the Defender Flex Jeans and Mission Ready Oxford shoes to your wardrobe, they will not disappoint.
