Toor Knives Viper | Small, Lightweight and Absolutely Ferocious

Toor Knives Viper | Small, Lightweight and Absolutely Ferocious

Carrying a concealed fixed blade knife, or even carrying a knife at all for personal defense is somewhat of a controversial issue depending on where you live and who you talk to. I have heard both sides and understand where both are coming from. I’ve also been through formal training for carrying and properly bringing a blade into a fight. With that said, it’s not my primary option if I have to get toe-to-toe with a threat. That’s because if you have to go to your blade, shit has really gone south and it’s about to get real f’ing messy. You must be mentally prepared to go there if you’re going to carry a blade for personal defense. I consider my blade to be a tertiary weapon, meaning that I will only go to my blade if both my primary and secondary options have been exhausted AND I am facing imminent death. My blade of choice for all this is the Toor Knives Viper.

A Closer Look at the Toor Knives Viper

The Toor Knives Viper is one of the best low vis fixed blades available if you’re looking to add this capability to your personal defense plan. It’s a smaller blade (overall length of 6″ and a cutting edge of 2.5″), but due to the design and ergonomics, it’s really easy to draw from the sheath and maintain a secure grip during use.

The blade profile and reinforced tip also allow for the Viper to be used for daily utilitarian tasks, it doesn’t have to be reserved as just an edged weapon. I use it occasionally at home for cutting open boxes or other minor tasks, but outside of my house, I also carry a pocket knife that I use for EDC tasks. The Viper remains in the shadows until called upon to strike.

Yes, you’re going to pay a little more for this blade than you would some other mass-produced options. It’s not for everyone, but if you want to support a small veteran owned business who produces some of the highest quality blades, I suggest taking a hard look at Toor Knives. Handmade and guaranteed for life. Most of their inventory is currently out of stock, due to their high demand and reduced workforce thanks to COVID. Keep an eye on their website though, as they release their blades in small batches. They are well worth the investment.

About Toor Knives

Designed as our number one everyday carry blade for both tactical applications and daily use. The Viper’s rounded edge provides smooth slicing with a reinforced tip. Its narrow handle partnered with the semi-circle finger ring ensures handle comfort however its held. The butt of the blade has our signature thumb jimping for stabbing to reduce thumb slippage in a reverse hold while the steep thumb ramp on the spine of the blade keeps the hand in place in a standard hold.

Hey boss…I own several knives from the guys at Toor…I happen to be in San Diego for a friends retirement at Coronado and stopped by their shop. They opened up their shop to me and my family, took us all in the back and showed us their process. Cameron was spooling up for his last deployment but Connor gave us a great tour. They also have a great Mom who knows how to make people feel welcome. I can attest they are passionate about what they are doing and produce a great product.

Thanks for the comment, Chuck! I’ve only talked to Connor over the phone, but all my dealings with them have been positive and their product is solid.
