The Durable Field Watch from 5.11 Tactical UPDATED

September 12, 2023 by Travis Pike Leave a Comment

“Our popular Field Watch has been upgraded, retaining all the best features while adding phosphorescent Super-LumiNova® hour and second hands for readability in dark conditions, along with an easy-to-see date window. Topped with a scratch-resistant mineral crystal and water resistant to 330 feet, this Japanese-movement watch shuns the abuse of hard use. A unidirectional ratcheting dive bezel with a lume marker tracks elapsed time. The stainless-steel case with IP finish stands up to your rugged use. A nylon NATO band securely anchors this watch in place. You’ll want to wear the Field Watch 2.0 for years”. ~511tactical.com

I’m not a huge watch guy, but I’m getting there. I tend to prefer watches that value strength and durability over appearance. The 5.11 Field Watch is plenty durable and fulfills my personal style of subdued colors and designs. The 5.11 Field Watch is very much inspired by classic military watches. It’s an analog watch with a simple NATO nylon webbing band that is long enough for any wrist.

The Watch hands are phosphorescent and glow nicely after the sunsets. It’s not bright enough to give your position away, but it’s bright enough to easily tell the time. The strap is also superbly comfortable and comes in tan or black.

The watch face has large numbers that are easy to see and a red second hand. The date window is yellow and eye-catching. Over the standard numbers is military time going from 1300 to 2400.

UPDATED 5.11 Tactical Field Watch 2.0 Features:

  • Case Size: 44mm
  • Stainless steel case with matte Ion Plated finish
  • Stainless steel screw-in case back
  • Nato band: 22mm width
  • Scratch/chip resistant mineral crystal display
  • Luminous hour, minute, and second hands
  • Date window
  • Unidirectional ratcheting dive bezel
  • WR 100 meters/330 feet/ 10 atmospheres
  • MSRP: $175

The case is 44mm which is larger than I’m used to, but it still looks nice and it’s far from being boisterous or obnoxious. 5.11 designed the field watch to be durable and they did a damn fine job at doing so.

The face is made from scratch and chip-resistant mineral glass crystal so it can take a beating without becoming compromised. The watch is also waterproof down to 100 meters and has a unidirectional ratcheting bezel that makes it perfect for divers and swimmers.

Final Thoughts:

While form is positioned below function the 5.11 Field Watch has a classic and simple styling to it. That old-school cool factor is high with the Field Watch. It’s affordable as far as watches go. It’s easy to set, and perfect for both the field and the social affair.
