ORCA Walker Tote | An affordable soft cooler option

June 22, 2023 by Steven Meisner Leave a Comment

Walker Tote

ORCA Coolers has an extensive line-up of premium coolers with a variety of sizes to choose from. The Walker Tote Cooler competes with the Yeti Hopper coolers for the top spot in this premium class of tote coolers. Overall, the ORCA Walker Tote is lighter, less expensive and more stylish than the Yeti counterparts. Performance wise, this cooler is best suited for keeping beverages and snacks cold for a typical day on the boat or beach. If you’re looking for something to hold up for a longer adventure, you should probably move up to a hard-side cooler from ORCA.

Out of the box, the exterior gray finish against the black and white detailing looks sharp. The ORCA Walker Tote is taller than the Yeti Hopper Flip, which allows the ORCA to easily handle 8 bottles of wine upright with plenty of extra room for ice and snacks. Located on the front, a waterproof pocket keeps keys, a wallet or even a paperback book, high and dry. The Yeti Hopper Flip and M30 don’t include an exterior pocket.

Orca Walker Tote Demonstration Video:

In addition to the good first impressions, the ORCA Walker Tote features a magnetic closing carry handles. Waterproof, UV and puncture resistant outer fabric and a leak proof zipper. Plus, the thick insulated walls can hold ice for up to 24 hours. My non-scientific ice test confirms this cooler holds ice for 26-30 hours with no issue. Size wise, the ORCA Walker Tote can easily hold twenty 12-ounce cans with plenty of room for ice. It’s a smidge bigger than the Yeti Hopper Flip, but half the size of the Yeti Hopper M30. With a dry weight of only 3.6 lbs, the Walker Tote is much lighter than some other options in this class.

Specifications:

  • Easy open magnetic split handle
  • Insulated inner walls keeps cold retention for days
  • Durable double denier outer material
  • Waterproof inner and front pocket
  • Ultrasonic RF welding as used in whitewater craft
  • Comfort padded shoulder strap
  • Tough skin bottom pad for added durability

Price wise, the ORCA Walker Tote sells for $193 on Amazon. The Yeti Hooper Flip retails at $250, and the Yeti Hopper M30 is $350. If you are looking for a premium cooler that looks great, this is a great choice for the money. It also seems much more practical than the Yeti Hopper M30. Which frankly seems to big for a shoulder-carried day cooler in my opinion.
