GORUCK Bullet Ruck Review

January 26, 2024 by Scott Witner Leave a Comment

GORUCK Bullet Ruck | Adaptable To Any Environment

Why is it called a ruck and not a backpack? GORUCK has explained this question:

Rucksacks have military origins in heavy load carriage so they’re built to house a lot of weight over time and distance — rucking is the foundation of the United States Army Special Forces training after all. Backpacks, on the other hand, are designed to feel comfortable when you try them on empty in the store, and they’re mostly associated with school bags that break at least once a year and end up in a landfill. If you have real work to do, if you’re a professional who wants something that lasts, choose a rucksack.

In the past, I’ve owned both the GR-1 and Rucker. The GR-1 worked flawlessly on a ‘one-bag’ trip to Europe for 7 days, but it was a little too much for daily carry. The Rucker is the same size as the GR-1 but built specifically for rucking.

I was still in need of something better suited for everyday carry that doesn’t scream tactical in an office environment. Checking out the GORUCK website, I noticed that the smaller Bullet ruck was on sale for $125.

Combined with my 25% Earned Service discount they offer, I paid $98 out the door for the Bullet Ruck. Made in America, by American workers using US-made materials. How can you not want to rock one of these?

A Day Ruck To Carry The Basics

The 10-liter Bullet ruck is just about perfect for daily commuting to the office and back home. Large enough to transport the necessities and nothing else.

There are no unnecessary pockets or straps on the outside of the pack keeping it toned down so that you do not stand out. The silent zipper pulls (more like suppressed), allow you to access the contents of the pack without any obnoxious sounds.

The overall streamlined profile of this ruck allows for better freedom of movement when moving through large crowds of people, utilizing public transportation, or flying commercial airlines.

Unfortunately, the 10-liter version is no longer available and has been replaced by the 15-liter version.

The new 15-liter GORUCK Bullet ruck is a fantastic backpack that is perfect for everyday use or for those who enjoy minimalist packing. With a capacity of 15 liters, this backpack is small yet surprisingly spacious, allowing you to carry all of your essentials without feeling weighed down.

One of the key features of the GORUCK Bullet Ruck is its durability. Made from high-quality materials such as 1000D Cordura and YKK zippers, this backpack is built to last and can withstand even the toughest conditions.

The design of the GORUCK Bullet Ruck is simple yet stylish, making it a versatile option that can be used for work, travel, or outdoor activities. The padded shoulder straps are comfortable to wear, even for extended periods, and the top handle makes it easy to grab and go.

Overall, the GORUCK Bullet Ruck is a great backpack for anyone looking for a durable, versatile, and minimalist option. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of larger backpacks, its compact size and rugged design make it a reliable choice for everyday use or for those who enjoy traveling light.

Originally when I got the 10-liter version, I liked the pack and had only one real complaint; no good way to transport my laptop as seen in the above video. Well, GORUCK has since remedied that issue with the 16-liter Bullet Ruck, including a dedicated laptop sleeve.
