DRYGUY and their powered boot dryers | Travel Dry DX

February 27, 2020 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Since it’s winter and we’re talking about boots, heated socks, snow shoes and skiing, it’s fitting that we discuss how to keep those cold wet boots dry. Wether you’re on a multi day hunt, or a week long skiing trip, keeping your footwear warm and dry is critical. Often times, boots get kicked off in the cabin after a day outside and forgotten until the following day. It’s when you slide your foot into that boot that you realize it’s still cold and damp from the previous day. This is where the Travel Dry DX from DRYGUY comes in to dry footwear and gloves.

DRYGUY

As I left Denver and headed north to Steamboat Springs following Outdoor Retailer, I had with me, the DRYGUY Travel Dry DX. Temperatures were expected to be warmer than normal and with three consecutive days of skiing on the schedule, my boots were definitely going to be moist with sweat. Back at home is the larger Force Dry which we’ve used with great success. But it’s a bit bulky to travel with. The compact Travel Dry DX actually fits inside the boot so that’s where it’s packed when traveling. Utilizing space not normally used when packing.

“The Travel Dry DX works in a few simple steps. First, the dryer draws fresh air inside your shoe. Once inside, the heating elements warm the fresh air, helping it to circulate throughout the inside of your shoe. This warm air sucks up trapped moisture and escapes through the top of the shoe, taking the moisture with it.” -dryguy.implus.com

Not only did the Travel Dry DX leave my ski boots warm and dry after a full day of skiing. It quickly dried my wifes boots as well. Making the next morning a much more pleasant experience. I simply dropped the units in my boots and plugged in for a couple hours. It’s now a “must pack” item on all future ski trips. Since it fits into the boot itself, the Travel Dry DX doesn’t add any volume to my boot bag, which is nice. Additionally, this unit can run on AC or DC power so it can be used on the road via a vehicles 12 volt outlet. I may even consider bringing this on Overland adventures this summer.

Travel Dry DX Features:

  • Ideal for drying and warming boots and shoes
  • Features whisper quiet fan for efficient drying
  • Can be used both in vehicle or for at-home drying
  • Compact and portable, easily packs in boots
  • Will not damage footwear, boot liners, or foot beds
  • Reduces unpleasant odors
  • MSRP $39.95

With several different dryers for shoes, boots, gloves and helmets, DRYGUY is an affordable way to not only keep your gear dry, but extend its longevity as well. Wet shoes and gloves are breeding grounds for bacteria, fungus and mold. Not only does this stink, it eats away at those technical fabrics that make up most modern high end gear. I’m ordering another Travel Dry DX for an upcoming trip to Utah in March. Since four of us will be skiing for 5-6 days, a second set seems like a good call.
