COR Surf Island Hopper Travel Backpack

December 6, 2023 by Art Dorst Leave a Comment

A few months ago I saw an advertisement for the Cor Surf Island Hopper Travel Backpack. Although I wasn’t in the market for a new bag, the advertisement and design really caught my eye. So I ended up ordering one.

Over the past two years, most of my travel consisted of short getaways. Mostly road trips in the truck and a few shorter flights. I rely on an assortment of backpacks or duffle bags to handle my luggage needs. But most have that “tactical look” that can sometimes attract unwanted attention.

I was looking for something a little lower profile than my usual selection.

Cor Surf Island Hopper features and specs

  • Easy Access, Shock-Resistant Padded Laptop Side Pocket (up to 16″), makes clearing TSA a breeze, Additional Pocket for Documents, Kindle etc next to the Laptop Sleeve
  • Luggage style opening (Black Backpack Has Green Interior, Red and Green have a Black Interior)
  • Wide, padded, ergonomic shoulder straps with air-vented mesh to wick-away sweat and evenly distribute heavy loads
  • Adjustable chest strap
  • 28L – Well within Carry-On Size Allowance
  • Splash resistant zippers
  • Weather-resistant TPU Exterior
  • Two hidden pockets on the back panel for travel documents. One zipper is hidden under the carry-on luggage handle wrap and not visible.
  • Duffel Bag handle and TPU Coated Top Handle for comfortable hand-carrying options.
  • Multiple Pockets for sunglasses, chargers, snacks etc.
  • Premium, Metal
  • Only 3lbs
  • Massive space on the inside for shoes and multiple days on the road.
  • LIFETIME GUARANTEE!!

Upon receiving the Island Hopper, I was impressed with the lightweight, low-vis appearance, quality construction, and design. The exterior has a slight rubber feel to it that’s water-resistant (I always hesitate to say waterproof.) And has a handle on the side allowing it to be carried like a suitcase. The shoulder straps are more than sufficient for standard travel carry and incorporate a sternum strap for added stability. There is also a mesh pocket on the outside suited for a water bottle.

The Island Hoppers main compartment opens like a suitcase. Exposing additional storage compartments separated by zippered mesh compartments. The main compartment also features straps for keeping your clothing from moving around while in transit.

Two smaller compartments are perfect for storing items like a shaving kit or other small personal items. The mesh compartments keep things organized and visible, so you don’t have to root around to find items.

There is a padded compartment for your laptop or tablet that is accessible without having to open the main compartment. On the front outside there is a small pocket for frequently used items.

Like phone charger cords, battery packs, pens, notebooks, phone, etc. On the rear of the pack that goes next to your back, there are two low-visibility pockets. Perfect for storing a passport, wallet, or any item that requires an extra level of security.

Final Thoughts

I’ve used the Island Hopper on a couple of road trips so far and really like it. It’s perfect for a couple of days worth of clothes and personal items. I can see this being a great bag for short 2-3 day trips with just carry-on luggage.

If you’re in the market for a new getaway bag, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Island Hopper Backpack. Available in three colors and competitively priced at $99, it’s a great value considering all the features you get for the money.
