Cool. Two questions. I've always used Hoppe's, which is a pretty light oil, especially compared with this honey-thick mix of grease and motor oil. What's the advantage, with the thicker lube?
Also, the focus seems to be on synthetics. Why?

As a multi-thousand mile hiker/packer, some first aid is absolutely at the top. The variety will be based on past experiences, but antibiotic salve, allergic med, blister control, etc. Also, some repair/sewing capability. Also, some versatile tool like a Gerber MultiTool. Also, some cordage including extra shoelaces. Also, some insect repellant. Also, a whistle, tweezer, and spare eyeglasses. I also carry at least one adjustable strap for a multitude of OMG Murphy contingencies.

This is a very high quality knife. I really like the detents. It is my gentleman's knife. It goes with me when I need to be civilized. It is big enough to be useful but certainly no threat to anyone who sees it. My EDC is a frame lock with an S35VN blade. Fairly durable and easy to sharpen. This steel is a great compromise.
