Blitz 35 from MYSTERY RANCH | Ready for Adventure

A backpack with a larger capacity, such as Mystery Ranch’s Blitz 35, allows users to pack and organize gear for different adventures. For EDC purposes, the Blitz 35 provides users with options to manage and pack extra equipment in emergencies. For travelers, the Blitz 35 provides a backpack for short trips on the road.

Blitz 35 Overview

On the front of the Blitz 35, there are five panels of PALS webbing for users to attach additional pouches. On both sides of the Blitz 35, Mystery Ranch placed three panels of PALS webbing. Additionally, each side has a built-in pocket with a drainage hole. The pockets work well to hold water bottles or a rolled-up rain jacket for easy access. To help keep the backpack compact when there is not a lot of stuff in the backpack, Mystery Ranch installed upper and lower compression straps. These compression straps also have built-in web keepers to help stow loose straps and prevent them from getting caught on branches or vehicle doors.

The Blitz 35 also has three external pockets, the A, B, and C pocket system, with water resistant zippers. The A pocket is at the Blitz 35’s base. This pocket is designed to hold an assortment of small items such as pens, flashlights, small notebooks or first aid items. The B pocket is big enough for various tech items, such as charging cables and a battery pack. The B pocket also has a built-in lanyard to secure keys. Behind the A and B pockets, there is a slim middle pocket to carry a book for easy access while traveling in a plane. The C pocket is a smaller admin pocket that can hold several pens or cold-weather gloves for easy access. On top of the C pocket is a loop tape panel for call sign patches or morale patches.

Blitz 35 Yoke system and waist belt

“Whether work or school, the loop-lined laptop sleeve, internal bottle pockets, and attached admin lid offer rich, daily-use features, yet the hydro-ported body panel is ready for off-road adventures.” ~ mysteryranch.com

At the back of the Blitz 35 is a telescoping yoke system and a removable waist belt. At the top of the yoke system, you’ll find a webbed carry handle and two load lifter straps. The sternum strap also has built-in bungee cords to secure a hydration hose and keep it close to the pack’s wearer. On either side of the waist belt, there are built-in pockets. These pockets can hold smaller items such as keys or a small plastic bag containing snacks for eating while moving.

There are two ways to access the Blitz 35’s interior. The first way to access the Blitz 35’s interior is by opening the shroud. The shroud also has two drawstrings which optimize the pack’s size based on the amount in the Blitz. The second way to open the pack is by using the zipper that runs up and down the Blitz’s front right side. Using this zipper allows access to all of the Blitz’s interior.

“Tactical and functional – the BLITZ 35 is ready for whatever mission your day brings on.” ~ mysteryranch.com

Inside the Blitz 35, you’ll find two internal water bottle pockets that can hold insulated bottles such as a Hydro Flask. Each pocket can also hold up to three 5.56 or .308 magazines. The Blitz 35’s interior also has a pocket to hold files, a tablet, or a single notebook. Behind this pocket is a padded hanging pocket to hold a laptop or a hydration bladder. A hang tab helps secure the hydration bladder in the hanging pocket. Mystery Ranch also includes a quick access zipper to this hanging pocket.

Besides the four internal pockets, there is a loop tape panel to store morale patches while traveling. The loop tape can also hold a small admin pouch with hook tape. Mystery Ranch also has an internal compression strap at the top of the Blitz 35. This strap is great for compressing the Blitz internally when it is not fully loaded. The strap can also help prevent the Blitz from billowing out when it is empty.

Final Thoughts

As I used the Blitz 35 over the past several weeks, I was impressed with what Mystery Ranch has produced. The Blitz is adaptable for many purposes, from longer day hikes to short-term travels. I took the Blitz 35 on a weeklong hunting trip as my “walking” backpack. During that trip, it held two jackets, ammo, a headlamp, batteries, water, and other hunting equipment that I needed while walking through the woods. During the walking portions of the hunting trip, I did not have any problems with the weight in the pack due to the Blitz’s yoke system and the waist belt. The Blitz will also work well for when I do overnight travels and for hikes that my wife and I will go on in the future.
